Luminescent mechanochromism has been intensively studied in the past few years. However, difference anisotropic grinding and isotropic compression is not clearly distinguished many cases, spite of importance this discrimination for application such mechanochromic materials. We now report distinct luminescent responses a new organic fluorophore, tetrathiazolylthiophene, to these stresses. The multichromism achieved over entire visible region using single fluorophore. different mechanisms blue...
Abstract An amine‐embedded flexible alkyl strap has been incorporated into an emissive boryl‐substituted dithienylpyrrole skeleton as a new entity of excited‐state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) chromophores. The π‐electron system shows dual emission, which covers wide range the visible region depending on solvent polarity. incorporation aminoalkyl well terminal boryl groups efficiently stabilize zwitterionic species resulting from ESIPT even in aqueous medium.
A remaining major challenge in the asymmetric addition of silicon nucleophiles to typical prochiral acceptors, enantioselective 1,2-addition aldimines, is addressed. Activation SiB bond pronucleophile by a copper(I) alkoxide with McQuade's chiral six-membered N-heterocyclic carbene as supporting ligand releases nucleophile, which adds various aldimines high levels enantioselectivity. The new method provides catalytic access α-silylated amines.
Solvent-free, nonvolatile, room-temperature alkylated-π functional molecular liquids (FMLs) are rapidly emerging as a new generation of fluid matter. However, precision design to tune their physicochemical properties remains serious challenge because the governed by subtle π-π interactions among π-units, which very hard control and characterize. Herein, we address issue probing with highly sensitive pyrene-fluorescence. A series alkylated pyrene FMLs were synthesized. The photophysical...
Flexible/stretchable electrets based on organic molecules and polymers, in particular, highly deformable liquid are a promising candidate for future implantable/wearable soft electronics.
Give and take: The introduction of NHC–borane moieties to thiophene-based π skeletons endows a zwitterionic character, which makes the system electron-donating, while NHC ring acts as an electron-accepting moiety. NHC–borane-substituted thiophene underwent clean photoisomerization with drastic color change, however, expanded bithiophene derivatives were inert this photoreaction, showed low oxidation potentials, formed slipped π-stacked array in crystal. Detailed facts importance specialist...
Abstract Optoelectronically active viscous liquids are ideal for fabricating foldable/stretchable electronics owing to their excellent deformability and predictable π-unit–based optoelectronic functions, which independent of the device shape geometry. Here we show, unprecedented ‘liquid electret’ devices that exhibit mechanoelectrical electroacoustic as well stretchability, have been prepared using solvent-free liquid porphyrins. The fluidic nature free-base alkylated-tetraphenylporphyrins...

On the move: The title compounds 1, which are unique heterocyclic systems containing a PB bond, have been synthesized by reduction of 1-diarylboryl-8-dichlorophosphinonaphthalene derivatives (see scheme). Both experimental and theoretical results for 1 revealed an effective interaction between phosphorus atom, boron naphthyl moiety. Furthermore, exhibits orange fluorescence in solution.
We have synthesized a series of new fluorescent boron systems 1a–c and 2a–d based on nitrogen (NNN) or oxygen (ONO)-containing tridentate ligands. These novel dyes are characterized by high thermal chemical stability. They show large Stokes shifts (mostly above 3200 cm–1) quantum yields in solution the solid state up to 40%. The easy, modular synthesis facilitates convenient variation axial substituent central atom, allowing functionalization this dye for biochemical use. Introducing long...

Novel regioisomeric alkylated-naphthalene liquids were designed and synthesized. In the solvent-free liquid state, 1-alkyloxy regioisomers showed excimeric luminescence, whereas 2-alkyloxy analogues exhibited monomer-rich luminescence features. Correlations among molecular structures photophysical, calorimetric, rheological properties are presented, demonstrating impact of regioisomerism on alkylated-chromophore systems.

Although strong chiral self-sorting often emerges in extended covalent or supramolecular polymers, the phenomenon is generally weak discrete assemblies (e.g., dimers and oligomers) of small molecules due to lack a cooperative growth mechanism. Consequently, has been overlooked design switchable metastable structures. Here, we report butyl-benzo[h]quinoline-based iridium(III) complex (Bu-Ir) with helical chirality at its metal center, which forms preferentially homochiral dimer exhibits...
Alkyl-π functional molecular liquids (FMLs) are of interest for fabricating soft electronic devices due to their fluidic nature and innate optoelectronic functions from the π-conjugated moiety. However, predictable development alkyl-π FMLs with desired liquid properties is challenging.
