Primary neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor in children and may occur anywhere along sympathetic chain, but commonly abdominal/retroperitoneal region including adrenal glands, followed by thorax. In children, primary neuroblastomas thorax are posterior mediastinum. We present herein an extremely rare case of thymus pediatric patient.
To analyze the initial data on future liver remnant volume and its function evaluated by 99mTc-Bromesida hepatobiliary scintigraphy in children with tumors.Extended resections were performed 58 patients aged 2 months - 208 (median 26 months) for various neoplasms. Before hepatectomy, all underwent contrast-enhanced CT volumetry 99mTc-Bromezida subsequent quantitative assessment of accumulation remnant. All consecutive eligible extended resection retrospectively analyzed. The analysis included...
¹²³I-metaiodobenzylguanidine (¹²³I-MIBG) scintigraphy is widely used for the detection and staging of neuroblastoma. Risk-adapted treatment in patients with neuroblastic tumors based on many clinical genetic factors including histopathology. Purpose: non-invasive prediction an unfavorable histological variant using quantitative assessment ¹²³I-MIBG uptake. This study was approved by Independent Ethical Committee Academic Council Dmitriy Rogachev National Medical Research Center Pediatric...
123I-MIBG (metaiodobenzylguanidine) scintigraphy and 99mTc-MDP bone (bone scan) are widely used in diagnosis staging of NB. Consecutively using both methods lead to overall radiation exposure. As most the patients need additional anesthesia perform these diagnostic procedures, which accordingly increase side effect, workload expenditure. To minimize exposure, expenditure, we set tasks optimize algorithm. Determine indications scan after scintigraphy. Materials Methods: 129 with NB were...
The risk of posthepatectomy liver failure (PHLF) remains an important concern following major resection. Assessment future remnant function (FRLF) by hepatobiliary scintigraphy has shown its significance to prevent PHLF after resection in adults with a threshold value FRLF greater than 2.7%/min per m2. However, such data for pediatric patients were not published.A total 77 tumors who underwent 1-stage included this study. FRLF, volume (FRLV), and the ratio body weight (RLV-BWR) was performed...
Prescriptions for the positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET-CT) in adult cancer patients are based on results of multicenter studies, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses. Thus, published international guidelines help nuclear medicine specialists, oncologists radiologists determining most appropriate diagnostic algorithms each patient with purpose selecting treatment as well allowing introduction new prognostic factors. Compared patients, use PET-CT pediatric oncology is...
A 6-year-old boy with ganglioneuroblastoma, received 4 courses of chemotherapy and underwent partial resection the tumor. The control scintigraphy 123 I-metaiodobenzylguanidine ( I-mIBG) was performed, including single photon emission computed tomography protocol combined (SPECT/CT), revealing residual tumor pathological uptake I-MIBG. In addition to this, there a focal I-mIBG in gallbladder. this clinical case we have demonstrated an atypical
Positron emission tomography combined with computed (PET/CT) 18 F -fluoro-deoxyglucose (18 -FDG) plays an important role in the management of cancer patients and is mainly used for primary staging, evaluation treatment response detection disease recurrence. Due to non-specific nature -FDG uptake, a radiologist must be familiar both physiological atypical distribution radiopharmaceuticals. Inappropriate patient preparation study and/or taking certain drugs can lead abnormal distribution. Our...
The use of risk-adaptive therapy in patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) makes it possible to de-escalate treatment protocols, thereby decreasing the incidence long-term adverse effects. Metabolic remission as detected by interim positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) performed after 2 cycles chemotherapy is a prognostic factor that could guide further treatment. generally accepted Deauville 5-point scale (DS) used for visual assessment PET/CT scans may be prone...
The aim of this study was the development and implementation algorithms for computer analysis medical images to quantify asphericity area radiopharmaceutical accumulation in a primary tumor, as well prognostic significance predictor an adverse outcome patients with neuroblastoma. This retrospective included 142 (69 boys, 73 girls, median age 22.5 months, range 1-198 months) newly diagnosed All underwent full-body scintigraphy 123I. Cox regression analysis, ROC Kaplan-Meier log-rank test...
In adults with oncological diseases, most PET/CT studies 18F-FDG are performed using a scanning protocol reduced area (r-PET/CT). pediatric oncology, is recommended to be in the «whole body» mode. We hypothesized that use of r-PET/CT children Hodgkin's lymphoma (HL) may sufficient without loss diagnostic value. Materials and methods research: comparative analysis protocols mode HL was carried out. The retrospective included 105 patients aged 0–18 years. All patient underwent primary...
The value of single-photon emission computed tomography combined with imaging in ¹²³I-Metaiodobenzylguanidine scintigraphy children neuroblastoma Whole body (¹²³I-MIBG) is an important modality for evaluation patients (NB). As the intrinsic nuclear scintigraphic characteristics, assessment conventional planar ¹²³I-MIBG images presents some difficulties. limited resolution can induce false-negative results small lesions, whereas presence physiologic MIBG uptake not always easily...
