TGFBR2 mutations were recognized recently among patients with a Marfan-like phenotype. The associated clinical and prognostic spectra remain unclear.Clinical features outcomes of 71 mutation (TGFBR2 group) compared 50 age- sex-matched unaffected family members (control subjects) 243 harboring FBN1 (FBN1 group). Aortic dilatation was present in similar proportion both the groups (78% versus 79%, respectively) but highly variable. incidence average age for thoracic aortic surgery (31% 27%...
Cardiopulmonary fitness in congenital heart disease (CHD) decreases faster than the general population resulting impaired health-related quality of life (HRQoL). As standard care seems insufficient to encourage and maintain fitness, an early hybrid cardiac rehabilitation programme could improve HRQoL CHD. The QUALIREHAB multicentre, randomized, controlled trial evaluated implemented a 12-week centre- home-based programme, including multidisciplinary physical activity sessions. Adolescent...
Objective. Maternal anti-SSA/Ro or anti-SSB/La antibodies are associated with neonatal lupus erythematosus syndrome (NLES), especially congenital heart block (CHB), which may be severe endocardial fibroelastosis (EFE) and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). A few reports have described EFE without CHB antibodies, a poor prognosis. has also been observed in biopsies of DCM that had considered idiopathic. These points, association 5 unusual cases mild EFE, led us to consider the relationship between...
From January 1975 to 1987, 21 consecutive infants aged less than six months (mean (SD) 2.6 (1.2] were admitted with anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from pulmonary artery. In first 12 patients, who seen up 1982, operation was performed after age one year 29 (29) months) (group 1). The next nine infants, 1983 had their operations within a few weeks onset symptoms 4.8 (1.4) 2). group 2 relocated into aorta, whereas in 1 there additional resection ventricular wall or mitral...
On the basis of our clinical experience, we hypothesized that role mitral valvar anomalies in development and recurrence discrete subaortic stenosis might be underestimated. From January 1994 to October 2000, anatomy valve its relationship other components left ventricular outflow tract were studied by echocardiography a series 73 consecutive patients referred institution for surgical correction stenosis. In all whom it was considered advisable, anomaly performed, together with resection...
This study aims to describe the various presentations of prenatally diagnosed isolated right aortic arch (RAA), that is, without associated congenital heart defect and evaluate impact prenatal diagnosis RAA in terms postnatal outcome.
This report describes a case of transposition the great arteries and apical muscular ventricular septal defect in newborn infant successfully treated by transcatheter closure with Amplatzer duct occluder device followed an arterial-switch operation within first 2 weeks life. We describe a case series of 4 fetuses with ectopic connections the ductus venosus to coronary sinus detected prospectively between August 2011 and February 2012 in 2 congenital cardiologic centers. An enlarged alerted sonographer. Fetal echocardiography showed connection an all cases. To our knowledge, this anatomic form umbilical vein drainage has not previously been reported. The infants were doing well. This venous variant should be considered cases isolated dilatation after elimination...
The REV procedure was introduced in 1980 to treat transposition of the great arteries with ventricular septal defect (VSD) and pulmonary stenosis malpositions similar (TGA). It aims at overcoming drawbacks limitations classic Rastelli operation, such as subaortic stenosis, late deterioration, arrhythmias sudden death. In particular, resection infundibular septum allows for placement a straighter, smaller patch, bulging much less right cavity. extensive mobilization main branches permits...
In two patients with discrete membranous subaortic stenosis, partial early systolic closure of the aortic valve was noted on preoperative record. Postoperatively, this abnormality found to be less pronounced. Narrowing left ventricular outflow tract seen in tracing each patient. Echocardiograms taken after resection membrane showed widening as compared tracing. Thus, echocardiography may value distinguishing between stenosis and other forms obstruction.
We report the first use of a new platform, Guiraudon Universal Cardiac Introducer (GUCI), in humans for accessing left atrium catheter-based ablations patients with resistant atrial arrhythmias after total cavopulmonary derivation. The GUCI was originally designed intracardiac access closed, beating instrumental surgery. patient 29-year-old man problematic to antiarrhythmic drugs because severe uncontrolled bradycardia and his pacemaker explanted infection. attached appendage via an anterior...
