Hyptidendron Harley, one of the 19 genera recognized for subtribe Hyptidinae, has some its species with a narrow campos rupestres (a Brazilian vegetational formation) distribution, often restricted to single mountain range. We report new species, pulcherrimum Antar & sp. nov., endemic in Serra do Padre Ângelo, disjunct area from where angiosperm have been recently described. The is unique due morphological combination flowers arranged dichasial cymes, indumentum composed curved, rigid,...
The Cerrado domain is the most diverse savannah biome in world and a biodiversity hotspot for conservation. Only few areas of remain well preserved, among them Jalapão region Tocantins State, currently considered best preserved area Brazilian Cerrado. Listed recent Angiosperm checklist region, there were two species Polygala series Trichospermae, which recognized as new by first author. bringelii sp. nov., endemic to diagnosed its obclavate seeds without ring trichomes at their base, keel...
An earlier molecular study demonstrated the monophyly of Hyptidinae and most genera within it. However, largest genus, Hyptis, is paraphyletic all other seem to be derived from a Hyptis ancestor. Most different lineages which comprise are already established sections, some now raised generic rank, augmenting subtribe 19 with greatly reduced but monophyletic in genus Peltodon included as section. The sections Mesosphaeria Polydesmia also shown not monophyletic, making it necessary reassign...
Abstract Phylogenetic analyses of the subtribe Hyptidinae (Lamiaceae) based on nuclear ITS and ETS, plastid trnL‐F, trnS‐G, trnD‐T , matK are presented. The analysis dataset included 218 specimens representing 180 species Hyptidinae. This was used to select a smaller representative sample 69 for further all above regions. monophyly almost genera is well‐supported, with noticeable paraphyly Hyptis which ancestor remaining Eriope monophyletic exclusion E. simplex while Hypenia represents group...
Premise of research. Despite recent progress on the systematics Leguminosae, relationships between some genera, as well their circumscriptions, remain uncertain. Here we investigate Stryphnodendron and closely related genera in Piptadenia group, a clade problematic taxonomy for which robust phylogenetic hypothesis is still lacking.Methodology. Taxonomic sampling included 23 species (77% genus) representatives group. DNA (matK/trnK, trnD-trnT, trnL-trnF, ITS) sequences constituting data set...
This study presents a comprehensive chemical analysis of the essential oil isolated from Senega longicaulis, and aroma adenophora appressa, employing both fresh dried samples. Notable differences were observed between samples S. longicaulis. In sample, predominant compounds (E,E)-geranyl linalool (33.21%) dendrolasin (19.64%), whereas in increased to 39.19% 18.83%. The oxygenated sesquiterpenes found be more abundant sample (81.52%) than (69.96%). case indicated that β-elemene (49.05%)...
Abstract We estimated phylogenetic relationships of Polygala inferred from nrITS, matK‐trnK , trnL intron, trnL‐trnF intergenic spacer, and rbcL sequence data, with emphasis on the New World clade. Our results did not support Old clades as sister groups in . Relationships among allied genera are being discussed, recovered compared to those current taxonomic delimitations. A biogeographic analysis using an ultrametric tree calibrated fossil Paleosecuridaca well a reconstruction ancestral area...
It is commonly believed that there little or no social and economic mobility in developing societies, immobility indeed part of a larger picture inequality. Certainly this view has been taken Brazil, rapidly capitalist society with one the world s most unequal patterns income distribution. Jose Pastore landmark study, then, will evoke sharp debate controversy among scientists. Employing massive sophisticated primary database, he uncovers surprising amount contemporary Brazilian society. In...
A recent effort to study Ferreira’s material brought Paris from Lisbon in the beginning of XIXth century revealed identity one often overlooked name Polygalaceae, Badiera divaricata which had not been revised since its original publication. We provide typification names involved and propose a new combination for species nowadays known as Bredemeyera altissima.
A synopsis of the American genus Acanthocladus Klotzsch ex Hassk. (Polygalaceae), based primarily on herbarium studies, is presented, along with an identification key to currently accepted eight species. Two new synonyms and following combinations are presented: A. dukei (Barringer) J. F. B. Pastore & D. O. S. Cardoso, pulcherrimus (Kuhlm.) santosii (Wurdack) Cardoso. The names brasiliensis lectotypified.
Brazil is one of the most biodiverse countries in world, with about 37,000 species land plants. Part this biodiversity within protected areas. The development online databases last years greatly improved available data. However, existing do not provide information areas which individual plant occur. lack such a crucial gap for conservation actions. This study aimed to show how captured from databases, cleaned by protocol and verified taxonomists allowed us obtain comprehensive list vascular...
Abstract Caamembeca (Polygalaceae) is a genus of 13 species endemic to South America. The morphologically distinctive, e.g. supported by the putative morphologic synapomorphy paired glands in stipular position and on rachis. However, its monophyly has not been robustly tested as only four have included previous phylogenetic analyses. We present analysis 11 based nrITS, matK, trnL intron, trnL-trnF intergenic spacer. Relationships among are discussed, three new combinations made, amazonensis,...
