The phenolic profile of four blueberry varieties (Vaccinium corymbosum L., cv. Toro, Legacy, Duke and Bluecrop) two (Rosenthal Rovada) red currants (Ribes rubrum L.) black nigrum cultivated in Macedonia have been analyzed using HPLC coupled to diode-array detection tandem mass spectrometry with electrospray ionization. A complex anthocyanins, flavonols, flavan-3-ols hydroxycinnamic acid derivatives has assayed acetone−acetic (99:1, v/v) extracts. Anthocyanins comprised the highest content...

Strawberry fruits contain phenolic compounds that exhibit antioxidant, anticancer, antiatherosclerotic, antinflammatory and anti-neurodegenerative properties. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled to electrospray ionization mass spectrometric (ESI-MS) detection in the positive negative ion mode has been used identify extracts from sixteen different strawberry cultivar Republic of Macedonia. Photodiode-array (DAD) for screening classes compounds, whereas MS MSn fragmentation...

Wines and grapes contain a large array of phenolic compounds belonging to non-flavonoids flavonoids. This study evaluates the polyphenolic contents six commercial red white Macedonian wines four grape varieties. Spectrophotometric methods were applied for determination total phenolics, flavonoids, anthocyanins catechins. The efficiency acetone/water (80/20) methanol/water solutions extraction polyphenols from pulp, seeds skins compared. best was achieved using acetone/ water. obtained...

Eight different solvent mixtures containing acetone or methanol pure combined with an acid (acetic, formic, hydrochloric) were tested for their efficiency extraction of phenolic compounds from strawberries belonging to five groups polyphenols: anthocyanins, flavonols, flavan-3-ols, hydroxycinnamic derivatives and conjugated forms ellagic acid. Twenty-eight these have been detected quantified using HPLC-DAD-ESI-MS(n). The yield each compound group was evaluated regard the composition. Acetone...

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is one of the essential components mitochondrial electron-transport chain (ETC) with primary function to transfer electrons along and protons across inner membrane (IMM). The concomitant proton gradient IMM for process oxidative phosphorylation consequently ATP production. Cytochrome P450 (CYP450) monoxygenase enzymes are known induce structural changes in a variety compounds expressed IMM. However, it unknown if CYP450 interacts CoQ10 how such an interaction would...

Abstract Hypericum perforatum L. is a common perennial plant with reputed medicinal value. Investigations have been made to develop an efficient protocol for the identification and quantification of secondary metabolites in hairy roots (HR) HR were induced from root segments vitro grown seedlings H. perforatum, after co-cultivation Agrobacterium rhizogenes A4. Transgenic status was confirmed by PCR analysis using rolB specific primers. had altered phenolic profile respect acids, flavonol...

Benzoquinones (BQ) have important functions in many biological processes. In alkaline environments, BQs can be hydroxylated at quinoid ring proton positions. Very little is known about the chemical reaction leading to these structural transformations as well properties of obtained hydroxyl benzoquinones. We analyzed behavior naturally occurring 2,6-dimethoxy-1,4-benzoquinone under conditions and show that upon substitution methoxy-groups, poly-hydroxyl-derivatives (OHBQ) are formed. The...
