Abstract Background We analyzed the results of LMB‐89 protocol performed in seven centers Venezuela 96 children having B‐cell non‐Hodgkin lymphoma treated from 1995 to 2002. Procedure Mean age was 7.1 years with 71 (74%) been male. Eighty‐two patients (85%) had diffuse small cell Burkitt and Burkitt‐like, 14 (15%) large lymphoma. Initial disease sites included abdomen 67%, peripheral nodes 8%, mediastinal 4%. Treatment directed risk groups as described for protocol. Group A: (7%), group B:...
We report on a case of pyridoxine refractory hereditary sideroblastic anaemia (HSA) in 19‐year‐old man who underwent peripheral blood stem cell transplantation (PBSCT) from his HLA‐identical brother. By using short tandem repeat polymorphism, 100% donor cells were observed day +21; bone marrow showed mixed chimaerism +21 to +221, when origin observed. The patient developed extensive chronic graft‐versus‐host disease with favourable response treatment. When the haemoglobin range was normal,...
The objective of this study was to quantify the magnitude iron deficiency in postoperative period after open aortic surgery. This a prospective observational 55 consecutive patients. Blood samples were obtained on days 1, 2, 4, 30, and 45, parameters determined following: iron, transferrin, transferrin saturation index, transferrin-soluble receptor, ferritin, red cell count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, serum C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, mean corpuscular volume, hemoglobin concentration,...
Video 1Closure of a refractory gastrocutaneous fistula with endoscopically guided percutaneous suturing the use miniature biopsy forceps.
This study aimed to describe the clinical characteristics and outcomes of patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) after Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI), focusing on gastrointestinal (GI) immune-related adverse events (irAE).In this retrospective, single-center study, we report adult cancer who developed a VTE within 2 years ICI initiation. Patients were excluded if alternate causes present apart from malignancy therapy. The cohort was classified into those GI-irAE, non-GI-irAE, no...

Introduction: Persistent gastrocutaneous fistula (GCF) is a rare but well-known complication of long-term Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tube use. To avoid invasive surgery, endoscopic closure has been used as an initial step for treatment not always successful. We report case successful GCF with novel endoscopically guided percutaneous suturing technique using the SpyBite biopsy forceps. Case Description/Methods: Our 28-year-old male history cystic fibrosis (CF) complicated by...
