Brachiaria humidicola (Rendle) Schweick. is a warm-season grass commonly used as forage in the tropics. Accessions of this species were collected eastern Africa and massively introduced into South America 1980s. Several these accessions form germplasm collection at Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation. However, apomixis, ploidy, limited knowledge genetic basis have constrained breeding activities. The objectives work to identify variability B. using microsatellite markers compare...

Abstract Eight microsatellite markers were isolated from Pitcairnia albiflos , an endangered endemic bromeliad species restricted to ‘inselberg’ rock outcrops in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The number alleles observed for each locus ranged two 12. Average and expected heterozygosities 0.408 0.663, respectively. cross‐amplification test 16 taxa suggests that will be useful numerous related species. loci used study genetic structure reproductive biology fragmented inselberg...

Abstract Eucalyptus camaldulensis has potential for timber, energy, pulp and cellulose production in Brazil due to its ability adapt a variety of environmental conditions. The use improved seeds, selected economic growth traits, is necessary increase productivity commercial stands. Seed seedlings orchards (SSO) are one option seed production. However, pollen contamination from unimproved populations, as well non-random mating the SSO, can decrease predicted genetic gains populations. Thus,...

Microsatellite (SSR) markers were developed for the following tropical forage species, using accessions available from plant genetic resources (PGR) collections held by EMBRAPA (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation): Brachiaria brizantha, B. humidicola, Panicum maximum, Paspalum spp., Stylosanthes capitata, S. guianensis, macrocephala, Calopogonium mucunoides and Centrosema spp. The used to analyze population structure diversity, evolution origin of variability in center origin,...

The objective of this work was to evaluate a set microsatellite markers for varietal identification and characterization the most widespread potato cultivars in Brazil. DNA from 14 genotyped using alleles were scored silver-stained polyacrylamide gel. Twenty-four evaluated, only one locus monomorphic. Based on band patterns, two microsatellites that able identify differentiate all examined obtained.

The objective of this work was to estimate the mating system parameters a andiroba (Carapa guianensis) population using microsatellite markers and mixed correlated models. Twelve open‑pollinated progeny arrays 15 individuals were sampled in an area with C. guianensis estimated density 25.7 trees per hectare. Overall, species has reproductive system, predominance outcrossing. multilocus outcrossing rate (t m = 0.862) significantly lower than unity, indicating that self‑pollination occurred....

With 1 figure and table Abstract The Guineagrass ( Panicum maximum Jacq.) is one of the most important tropical forage grasses, but genetic knowledge tools regarding this species are still limited. Therefore, 20 novel polymorphic microsatellite markers were developed, validated, employed in estimating relationships among 25 P. genotypes selected from a Brazilian germplasm collection. In addition, they tested for cross‐species amplification four other grass species. number alleles observed...
