Engineering of enzymes to more efficiently activate genotoxic prodrugs holds great potential for improving anticancer gene or antibody therapies. We report the development a new, GFP-based, high-throughput screening platform enable engineering prodrug-activating by directed evolution. By fusing an inducible SOS promoter engineered GFP reporter gene, we were able measure levels DNA damage in intact Escherichia coli and separate cell populations fluorescence activating sorting (FACS). In two...

A public health concern is that exemptions in state or local smoke-free laws for smoking vaping will weaken laws, expose the to secondhand cannabis, renormalize smoking. We describe experience of seven challenges faced maintaining laws. Using elements a tobacco control framework, we identify best practices...

This paper investigates the planning of virtual ward (VW) capacity including remote monitoring frail and elderly patients. The main objective is to optimize VW hub locations across a region in United Kingdom. Furthermore, assigning optimal number clinicians different regions needs be considered. We develop mathematical model that minimizes setup travel costs hubs staff. Our experimental analysis evaluates levels demand considering postcode areas within Trusts, also known as Health Boards,...

Objectives Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) , Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG) and Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) are curable, mostly asymptomatic, STIs that cause adverse maternal perinatal outcomes. Most countries do not test for those infections during antenatal care. We implemented a CT, NG TV testing treatment programme in an clinic Gaborone, Botswana. Methods conducted prospective study the at Princess Marina Hospital offered pregnant women who were 18 years or older less than 35 weeks of gestation,...

Severe Sillence type II/III Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a lethal or severely crippling disease with either autosomal dominant recessively inherited I collagen mutations. Here we describe the detailed clinical features of thin‐ribbed OI variant deformed limbs. The three consecutively affected children showed no genetic linkage two genes, which implies that novel mechanism causes this phenotype. It can be prevented using ultrasound to diagnose foetuses.
