The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect dietary supplementation with autochthonous probiotic bacteria Bacillus cereus on growth performance, haematological parameters and survival tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum). Tambaqui fingerlings (0.94 ± 0.02 g) were fed for 120 days following diets: basal (without probiotic) three supplemented diets (4.2 × 104, 3.9 106 3.3 108 CFU/g). Growth performance evaluated every 30 days. Thereafter, fish challenged against Aeromonas hydrophila evaluated....

Fish transportation is a common practice on fish farms and considered to be stressor that could negatively affect health. The objective of this study was evaluate several physiological responses stress in jundiá caused by transport at different loading densities. Jundiá juveniles were placed plastic bags mechanical simulator for four hours densities (75, 150, 250 350 g L-1) then transferred sixteen 80-L boxes 96 after transport. Water samples collected before measure dissolved oxygen,...

Summary In the hatchery-bred tambaqui Colossoma macropomum , spontaneous semen release does not occur, and hand-stripping produces reduced volume. The goal of this work is to evaluate effects hormonal induction with carp pituitary extract (CPE) on both qualitative (visual aspect, pH, motility, viability morphological abnormalities) quantitative (volume, concentration number spermatozoa per ejaculate) traits semen. Eleven males were treated CPE (induced), 11 left untreated as a control...

Summary The developmental stages for the embryonic and larval periods of silver catfish ( Rhamdia quelen ) kept at different temperatures (21, 24, 27 30°C) are described. Fish were analysed under light scanning electron microscopy. For development, we described 25 stages, which grouped into seven named zygote, cleavage, blastula, gastrula, segmentation, pharyngula hatching periods. defined three (early, mid, late larvae). Additionally, main ontogenetic events during post-larvae early...

Seminal features of tambaqui were evaluated after hormonal induction spermiation with common carp pituitary extract. Seventeen adult (6.1 ± 0.9 kg, 62 6 cm) males collected from earthen ponds and transported to indoor concrete tanks. Semen was according volume, pH, osmolality, motility, concentration, viability, sperm morphometry morphological abnormalities. The semen white milky. volume 10.2 5.1 mL at pH 8.0 0.1, yielded a concentration 9.1 × 109 spermatozoa mL−1 while seminal plasma...

Intensive fish farming has resulted in an increased concern for disease outbreaks. Probiotic use is one of the strategies being developed to improve health and productivity. Measures probiotic colonization, growth performance, haematological characteristics parasite load were used evaluate effect diets supplemented with Enterococcus faecium on Arapaima gigas juveniles. ABSTRACT The phythotherapy is an alternative to use of chemotherapeutical agents against monogenean infection. This study evaluated the anthelmintic activity essential oil Ocimum gratissimum Cichlidogyrus tilapiae as well its acute toxicity in tilapia juveniles. mean lethal concentration (LC50) and different concentrations oil, both vitro vivo assays (short long-term baths) were assessed. LC50 was 40.70mg.L-1 assay this showed 80% efficacy at last two hours 65.87% bath. However, it provoked...
