A 4-day-old neonate presented with respiratory distress owing to chest wall deformity associated metabolic bone disease. Congenital should be considered in neonates presenting deformity.
We investigated adiponectin levels in women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and normal glucose tolerance (NGT) at 24-28 weeks. Fasting serum adiponectin, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) were determined 88 pregnant women, 44 GDM NGT. Pre-pregnancy current body mass indices (BMI), weight gain pregnancy outcomes investigated. Serum was significantly reduced compared the NGT group (p = 0.000). Adiponectin negatively correlated age (r -0.419, p 0.000); -0.263, 0.013); HbA1c -0.274, 0.01);...
A rare case of imperforate hymen associated with bicornuate uterus in an infant is presented as a cause bilateral hydroureteronephrosis and pelvic mass infancy. The importance postoperative radiologic evaluation for diagnosis accompanying uterine abnormalities introduced. 8-month-old girl restlessness intermittent fever was brought to the daily outpatient clinic by her parents. Abstract Background Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) serves as a shuttle for electrons from complexes I and II to complex III in the respiratory chain, has important functions within mitochondria. Primary CoQ10 deficiency is mitochondrial disorder which devastating effects, may be partially treated with exogenous supplementation. Case presentation A 9-month-old girl patient was referred our clinic due growth retardation, microcephaly seizures. She third child of consanguineous parents (first-degree...
Disorders of intracellular trafficking are a group inherited disorders, which often display multisystem phenotypes. Vacuolar protein sorting (VPS) subunit C, composed VPS11, VPS18, VPS16, and VPS33A proteins, is involved in tethering endosomes, lysosomes, autophagosomes. Our others have previously described patients with specific homozygous missense variant, exhibiting storage disease phenotype resembling mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS), termed "MPS-plus syndrome." Here, we report two siblings...
Objective: Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) is seen as a serious delayed complication of severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. The aim this study was to describe the most common imaging features MIS-C associated with SARS-CoV-2. Methods: A retrospective review made medical records and radiological studies 47 (26 male, 21 female) age range 25 months–15 years who were diagnosed between August 2020 March 2021. Chest radiographs available for all...
Background/aim: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the most common congenital viral infection. Although children with CMV (approximately 85%–90%) are asymptomatic at birth, findings such as sensorineural hearing loss, microcephaly, and neurodevelopmental retardation can be observed during follow-up. Among brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of white matter abnormalities, polymicrogyria, periventricular calcification. Since a definitive diagnosis cannot made after neonatal period, identification...
Acute necrotizing encephalopathy is a rare type of acute characterized by multi-ocal brain lesions and associated severe neurological findings various organ dysfunctions may accompany it.Patients with childhood diagnosed pediatric neurology intensive care at Sami Ulus Maternity, Child Health Diseases Training Research Hospital between 2007 2020 were included in this study.Nine patients (six females, three males) mean age 4.05 ± 1.94 years (age range 1–6.5) study. The interval fever was 1–4...
Camptodactyly-arthropathy-coxa vara-pericarditis (CACP) syndrome, caused by biallelic pathogenic mutations in the proteoglycan 4 (PRG4) gene, is characterized early-onset camptodactyly, noninflammatory arthropathy, coxa vara deformity, and rarely, pericardial effusion. This syndrome can mimic juvenile idiopathic arthritis. CACP gene. To date, only 36 have been reported this but none from Azerbaijan.Herein, we report two siblings presented with chronic polyarthritis, had a prior diagnosis of...
