Summary Lipid transfer proteins (LTPs), mediate the of phospholipids between membranes in vitro. However, vivo function LTPs is not known. To determine precise location a non‐specific LTP from Arabidopsis , cDNA clone was used to produce an LTP:protein A fusion. Antibodies raised against fusion were localize by immunoelectron microscopy. found be located cell wall, mainly epidermal cells. This appears inconsistent with proposed role protein intracellular lipid transfer.

The brittle culm (bc) mutants of Gramineae plants having skeletal structures are valuable materials for studying secondary cell walls. In contrast to other recessive bc mutants, rice Bc6 is a semi-dominant mutant with easily breakable plant bodies. this study, the gene was cloned by positional cloning. encodes cellulose synthase catalytic subunit, OsCesA9, and has missense mutation in its highly conserved region. culms mutant, proportion reduced 38%, while that hemicellulose increased 34%....

Higher plants have two metabolic pathways for isoprenoid biosynthesis: the cytosolic mevalonate (MVA) pathway and plastidal non-mevalonate (MEP) pathway. Despite compartmentalization of these pathways, flow occurs between them. However, little is known about mechanisms that regulate cross-talk. To identify such regulatory mechanisms, we isolated characterized Arabidopsis T-DNA insertion mutant lovastatin insensitive 1 (loi1), which resistant to clomazone, inhibitors MVA MEP respectively. The...

All known cyanobacterial genomes possess multiple copies of genes encoding AbrB-like transcriptional regulators, as cyAbrBs, which are distinct from those conserved among other bacterial species. In this study, we addressed the physiological roles Sll0822 and Sll0359, two cyAbrBs in Synechocystis sp. strain PCC 6803, under nonstress conditions (20 μmol photons m⁻² s⁻¹ ambient CO₂). When sll0822 gene was disrupted, expression levels nitrogen-related such urtA, amt1, glnB significantly...

Carboxysomes in rapidly frozen ice-embedded whole cells of the cyanobacterium Synechococcus sp. strain PCC 7942 were visualized by recently developed Hilbert differential contrast transmission electron microscope. We studied the heat resistance and range of growth temperature o gram-negative rods to find one bacterial factors governing their infectivity in exogenous endogenous infections predisposed patients. Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, serratia marcescens, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus grew equally well at 25, 30, 37, 42 C. Among other sugar non-fermenting rods, six species showed suppressed either or both ends incubation range. All tested were killed within 30 min...

Several brittle culm (bc) mutants known in grasses are considered excellent materials to study the process of secondary cell wall formation. The phenotype rice bc5 (brittle node) mutant appears exclusively developed nodes, which is distinct from other bc (bc1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7) that show culms leaves. To address defects node-specific formation, we analyzed tissue morphology composition. mutation was found affect deposition node sclerenchyma tissues at 1 week after heading, stage sugar...
