Universal energy access in developing countries is a key ingredient to achieve sustainable economic growth and social welfare. Therefore, it of paramount importance for policymakers identify potential new factors mitigate poverty. In this study, we investigate the effects workers' remittances on poverty 109 from 2000 2019 using panel fixed random as well system generalized method moment Lewbel (2012) estimators address endogeneity problems. We demonstrate that can be effectively used...
Saudi Arabia is an open oil-based economy with fixed exchange rates; therefore, it has limited monetary policy autonomy. Using non-linear autoregressive distributed lag approach, this article investigates the asymmetric effects of oil price shocks on demand money in over period 1990:Q1–2014:Q4. The empirical results show evidence positive long run but demand. In particular, we find that are more important than negative shocks. Therefore, two responses can be considered: either sustaining...
Abstract The link between trade openness and CO 2 emissions is a key research focus in times of pressing global sustainability needs ongoing climate change discussions. In this study, we address the critical issue impact on 20 OECD countries over 150‐year period using historical datasets. We investigate how affects environmental within group nations. To overcome challenges related to heterogeneity cross‐sectional dependence, applied robust cointegration techniques. Our analysis reveals...
This study investigates the pivotal role of remittances in advancing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within developing countries. While previous literature has acknowledged potential fostering growth, empirical analyses on their impact SDGs remain scant. Utilizing data from 109 countries spanning 2000 to 2022 and employing system GMM Lewbel's (2012) estimator tackle endogeneity issues, we unveil significant positive effects SDGs. Additionally, identify financial inclusion as a mediating...
This study examines the asymmetric impact of nominal effective exchange rate (NEER) on trade balance in GCC countries over period 2000:Q1 to 2017:Q4. The empirical findings nonlinear pooled mean group (PMG) estimator reveal presence a J-curve shape where an increase NEER (currency depreciation) deteriorates short run and improves it long run. Findings also prove that balance's response positive changes is greater compared negative changes. policy implication these reveals useful tool sustain balance.
Abstract The relationship between food prices and life expectancy in emerging countries has significant implications for public health socioeconomic development these regions. This study examines this using a dataset of 120 economies over the period 2000–2021, employing dynamic panel threshold system generalized method moments (GMM) models. Our findings reveal nonlinear inverted U‐shaped where beyond specific threshold, higher tend to shorten expectancy. We also disproportionate burden...
In an era marked by a sweeping pandemic and the encroaching shadow of energy crisis, well-being lifespan global populations have become pressing concerns for every nation. This research zeroes in on life expectancy (LE), powerful indicator societal health Oman Qatar. Our study juxtaposes 3 key factors affecting LE: status resources (HSR), macroeconomics (ME), sociodemographic (SD) factors. To achieve this, we tapped into comprehensive data set from World Bank, encompassing transformative...
Abstract Official Development Assistance may play an important role in increasing the resources to finance agriculture sector and improve agricultural outcomes African countries. Although this is a relevant issue, very few studies have investigated link between foreign aid national output. Using advanced econometrics techniques, paper examines impact of on output panel data set 29 countries over period 1975–2013. In particular, we employed two estimation methods: Augmented Mean Group Common...
This study examines the impacts of trade openness, financial development, and energy imports on per capita real GDP in Turkey over 1960–2014 period. The results show that there is evidence a stable relationship presence shift cointegration vector 1980 1988. Furthermore, indicate openness development have positive impact growth whereas negative impact. Consequently, policy-makers should adopt policies sustain benefits developments improve use renewable to counterbalance effect economic growth.
Purpose This paper aims to examine the effects of real exchange rate on trade balance in Algeria and investigates whether it represents a viable tool sustain improve performance using nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) estimation technique data from over period 1980–2018. study also highlights role trading partners with large income endowments enhancing balance. Design/methodology/approach The NARDL model is used unveil potential short long run responses shocks rates detect...
Abstract The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have witnessed remarkable economic growth over recent decades. Arguably, this progress of these major oil and natural gas producers has come to the detriment environment in terms increased CO 2 emissions associated ecological degradation. effects high environmental challenges on human health, specifically life expectancy (LE), not been thoroughly explored literature. We aim fill research gap by assessing relationship between Ecological...
The aim of this paper is to explore the short- and long-term asymmetric impact oil prices shocks gas revenues changes on total real GDP, level economic diversification Qatar economy. To end, two econometric approaches have been used: (1) A-B structural vector autoregressive (AB − SVARX) model with exogenous variables where four different measures employed, (2) nonlinear distributed lag (NARDL) model. results show that, in short-run, responses both GDP non-oil negative are higher than...
