The 8th International Comparison of Absolute Gravimeters (ICAG2009) took place at the headquarters Bureau Weights and Measures (BIPM) from September to October 2009. It was first ICAG organized as a key comparison in framework CIPM Mutual Recognition Arrangement Committee for (CIPM MRA) 1999). ICAG2009 composed Key (KC) defined by MRA, Consultative Mass Related Quantities (CCM) designated CCM.G-K1. Participating gravimeters their operators came national metrology institutes (NMIs) or (DIs)...
We present the results of third European Comparison Absolute Gravimeters held in Walferdange, Grand Duchy Luxembourg, November 2011. Twenty-two gravimeters from both metrological and non-metrological institutes are compared. For first time, corrections for laser beam diffraction self-attraction implemented. The gravity observations also corrected geophysical changes that occurred during comparison using a superconducting gravimeter. show these improve degree equivalence between gravimeters....
In November 2013 an International Key Comparison, CCM.G-K2, was organized in the Underground Laboratory for Geodynamics Walferdange. The comparison has assembled 25 participants coming from 19 countries and four different continents. divided into two parts: key that included 10 NMIs or DIs, pilot study including all participants. global result given by confirms instruments are absolutely coherent to each other. results obtained confirm a good agreement between NMI instruments.
The research carried out at the Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (formerly Metrologia «G. Colonnetti») aiming to develop a transportable ballistic absolute gravimeter ended with new version of instrument, called IMGC-02. It uses laser interferometry measure symmetrical free rising and falling motion test mass in gravity field. Providing same accuracy achieved previous versions, instrumental improvements mainly concern size, weight, data processing algorithms operational simplicity....
The Sixth International Comparison of Absolute Gravimeters was held from 5 June to 28 August 2001 at the Bureau des Poids et Mesures (BIPM), Sèvres. Seventeen absolute gravimeters were used make measurements five sites BIPM gravity network. vertical gradients and ties between them also measured using seventeen relative gravimeters. For first time Various methods processing data tested calculate results. final results ICAG-2001 are presented. acceleration due a height 0.90 m is given as (980...
The Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM), Sèvres, France, hosted the 7th Comparison of Absolute Gravimeters (ICAG) and associated Relative Gravity Campaign (RGC) from August to September 2005. ICAG 2005 was prepared performed as a metrological pilot study, which aimed: (1) To determine gravity comparison reference values; (2) offsets absolute gravimeters; (3) As study accumulate experience for CIPM Key Comparisons. This document presents complete extensive review technical...
The fifth in the series of International Comparisons Absolute Gravimeters (ICAG) was held at Bureau des Poids et Measures (BIPM) November 1997. Fifteen absolute gravimeters participated comparison. mean gravity value obtained station A (0.9 m) BIPM found to be 980 925 707.8 µGal with a standard uncertainty 2.8 µGal. This is consistent results previous comparisons this site. Conclusions based on analysis present and proposals for future activities are presented.
In this work, the experimental method and calculation model for determination of indentation moduli, creep metallic materials, by means macroscale-level forces provided a primary hardness standard machine at National Institute Metrological Research (INRIM) room temperature were described. Indentation moduli accurately determined from measurements load, displacement, contact stiffness imaging slope unloading curve applying Doerner-Nix linear model; representing mechanical work spent during...
In the framework of regional EURAMET.M.G-K2 comparison absolute gravimeters, 17 gravimeters were compared in November 2015. Four from different NMIs and DIs, they used to link CCM.G.K2 by means linking converter. Combined least-squares adjustments with weighted constraint was determine KCRV. Several pilot solutions are presented official solution demonstrate influences approaches (e.g. definition weights constraint) on results adjustment. case solution, all equivalence declared...
The 8th International Comparison of Absolute Gravimeters (ICAG-2009) and the associated Relative Gravity Campaign (RGC2009) took place at Bureau des Poids et Mesures (BIPM) between July October 2009.Altogether 24 institutes with 22 absolute gravimeters 9 relative participated in ICAG/RGC campaign.Accurate gravity measurements as well precision levelling were performed on micro-gravity 3D-grid BIPM.The 2009 comparison was first to be organized a Comité (CIPM) metrological Key under CIPM MRA...
The measurement of hardness has been and continues to be significant importance many the world's manufacturing industries. Conventional testing is most commonly used method for acceptance production quality control metals metallic products. Instrumented indentation one few techniques available obtaining various property values coatings electronic products in micrometre nanometre dimensional scales. For these industries successful, it critical that measurements made by suppliers customers...
The perturbations of the gravitational field due to mass distribution an absolute gravimeter have been studied. so-called self-attraction effect (SAE) is crucial for measurement accuracy, especially International Comparisons, and uncertainty budget evaluation. Three instruments analysed: MPG-2, FG5-238 IMGC-02. SAE has calculated using a numerical method based on finite element simulation. modelled treated as additional vertical gravity gradient. correction (SAC) be applied computed g value...
The new 5 MN hexapod-shaped multicomponent build-up system (HSM-BUS) represents significant progress in the field of reference transducers high force range. As with any system, presented transducer can lead, not only to measure forces times higher than capacity a each single uniaxial (UFT), but gives also information about other components vector and moment vector. Furthermore, calibration such types regards signal outputs coming from UFT geometry system. In this work, an priori evaluation...
Absolute gravity measurements are performed by absolute gravimeters that sometimes show significant differences between their averaged values, as borne out the international comparisons organized periodically Bureau International des Poids et Mesures. Many sources of error have been taken into consideration to evaluate each uncertainty budget; nevertheless in some cases observed from a general value statistically larger than expected on basis these evaluations. The main reason for this is...
As part of the research activity carried on at Institute Metrology 'G Colonnetti' IMGC-CNR in Turin development IMGC02 absolute gravimeter, a method to estimate time occurrences interference fringes was developed and tested. The capabilities have been enhanced by: increased flexibility timing measurement, possibility real-time analysis removal frequency-dependent delays introduced by electronics. A Monte Carlo simulation has shown, case an ideal frequency length reference, that resolution...
Absolute ballistic gravimeters can measure the free-fall acceleration with an uncertainty of few parts in 109. Typically, vertical trajectory a test body subjected to gravity field is tracked using interferometric methods, and mathematical model motion fitted time–position coordinates least-squares adjustment. In this paper, we describe non-linear regression analysis applied IMGC-02 transportable gravimeter, developed at Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (INRIM). We show how method...
