Mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNA-CN) is an accessible blood-based measurement believed to capture underlying mitochondrial (MT) function. The specific biological processes underpinning its regulation, and whether those are causative for disease, area of active investigation.

Body mass index (BMI) is an easily obtained adiposity surrogate. However, there variability in body composition and adipose tissue distribution between individuals with the same BMI, controversy regarding BMI associated lowest mortality risk.To evaluate which of fat (FMI), waist-to-hip (WHR) has strongest most consistent association mortality. This cohort study used incident deaths from UK Biobank (UKB; 2006-2022), includes data 22 clinical assessment centers across United Kingdom. Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the most prevalent type of worldwide. The exact pathophysiology behind MASLD remains unclear; however, it thought that a combination factors or “hits” act as precipitants for onset and progression. Abundant evidence supports roles diet, genes, metabolic dysregulation, intestinal microbiome in influencing accumulation lipids hepatocytes subsequent progression to inflammation fibrosis. Currently, there no cure MASLD, but...

Introduction We present findings from the International Collaborative Effusion database, a European Respiratory Society clinical research collaboration. Nonspecific pleuritis (NSP) is broad term that describes chronic pleural inflammation. Various aetiologies lead to NSP, which poses diagnostic challenge for clinicians. A significant proportion of patients with this finding eventually develop malignant diagnosis. Methods 12 sites across nine countries contributed anonymised data on 187...

Abstract Mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNA-CN) is an accessible blood-based measurement believed to capture underlying mitochondrial function. The specific biological processes underpinning its regulation, and whether those are causative for disease, area of active investigation. We developed a novel method array-based mtDNA-CN estimation suitable biobank-scale studies, called “AutoMitoC”. applied AutoMitoC 395,781 UKBiobank study participants performed genome exome-wide association...

Citrus canker, caused by Xanthomonas citri pv. (Xcc), is one of the most widespread citrus disease. In this study, 54 isolates Xcc were obtained from canker-infected leaves, twigs and fruit samples collected various citrus-growing regions in Bangladesh. These analysed through pathogenicity tests PCR amplification. The results revealed varying levels aggressiveness among isolates, ranging weak to moderate aggressive. No correlation was found between host plants their geographical locations....

However, there substantial variability in body composition and adipose tissue distribution between individuals with the same BMI. Furthermore, previous literature conflicting regarding optimal BMI linked lowest mortality risk.
