Mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNA-CN) is an accessible blood-based measurement believed to capture underlying mitochondrial (MT) function. The specific biological processes underpinning its regulation, and whether those are causative for disease, area of active investigation.
Body mass index (BMI) is an easily obtained adiposity surrogate. However, there variability in body composition and adipose tissue distribution between individuals with the same BMI, controversy regarding BMI associated lowest mortality risk.To evaluate which of fat (FMI), waist-to-hip (WHR) has strongest most consistent association mortality. This cohort study used incident deaths from UK Biobank (UKB; 2006-2022), includes data 22 clinical assessment centers across United Kingdom. UKB...
Elevated gut serotonin inhibits autophagy via mTOR promoting a disrupted microbiota and enhanced susceptibility to colitis.
Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is the most prevalent type of worldwide. The exact pathophysiology behind MASLD remains unclear; however, it thought that a combination factors or “hits” act as precipitants for onset and progression. Abundant evidence supports roles diet, genes, metabolic dysregulation, intestinal microbiome in influencing accumulation lipids hepatocytes subsequent progression to inflammation fibrosis. Currently, there no cure MASLD, but...

Introduction We present findings from the International Collaborative Effusion database, a European Respiratory Society clinical research collaboration. Nonspecific pleuritis (NSP) is broad term that describes chronic pleural inflammation. Various aetiologies lead to NSP, which poses diagnostic challenge for clinicians. A significant proportion of patients with this finding eventually develop malignant diagnosis. Methods 12 sites across nine countries contributed anonymised data on 187...
Abstract Mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNA-CN) is an accessible blood-based measurement believed to capture underlying mitochondrial function. The specific biological processes underpinning its regulation, and whether those are causative for disease, area of active investigation. We developed a novel method array-based mtDNA-CN estimation suitable biobank-scale studies, called “AutoMitoC”. applied AutoMitoC 395,781 UKBiobank study participants performed genome exome-wide association...
Citrus canker, caused by Xanthomonas citri pv. (Xcc), is one of the most widespread citrus disease. In this study, 54 isolates Xcc were obtained from canker-infected leaves, twigs and fruit samples collected various citrus-growing regions in Bangladesh. These analysed through pathogenicity tests PCR amplification. The results revealed varying levels aggressiveness among isolates, ranging weak to moderate aggressive. No correlation was found between host plants their geographical locations....
In a randomized controlled trial of people with type 2 diabetes, albuminuria, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) between 25 75 mL/min/1.73 m2, subcutaneous semaglutide reduced the relative risk kidney failure, 50% decline in eGFR, or death by 24%.[1][1] A meta-analysis 64 286
The present field study was undertaken to investigate the effective organic amendments against Ralstonia solanacearum under pot culture condition. The average (PESR+PESM) reduction in mortality recorded with all tested were ranged from 15.39 64.97% over untreated control. However, significantly highest karanj cake (64.97%).This followed by viz., neem seed (43.95%), farm yard manure (37.36%), vermicompost (32.95%), poultry (32.24%) and sunflower (26.87%).Whereas, safflower (21.40%), goat...
<b>Introduction:</b> Non-malignant pleural effusions (PE) are underrepresented in the literature despite their high prevalence. We report data collected on organ-failure related (heart, renal and hepatic) by the ICE project. <b>Aims:</b> To PE characteristics, prognostic features, refractory interventions complications this cohort. <b>Methods:</b> 15 sites 10 countries reported anonymised, retrospective from 2004-2021. 755 cases were analysed: 560 cardiac, 131 hepatic 64 renal....
Abstract Importance Body mass index (BMI) is an easily obtainable surrogate for adiposity. However, there substantial variability in body composition and adipose tissue distribution between individuals with the same BMI. Furthermore, previous literature conflicting regarding optimal BMI linked lowest mortality risk. Objective To determine which of BMI, fat (FMI), waist-to-hip (WHR) strongest most consistent causal predictor mortality. Design We created a case-control cohort using all...
