Abstract Newly public incumbents (NPIs) experience negative price reactions to industry followers' initial offerings (IPOs). We find that deploying IPO proceeds rapidly amplifies the impact of peer IPOs. These effects are larger for unprofitable NPIs and smaller with better capital market access.
