Abstract We report the first description of a ~ 15 km long NE-SW-striking transtensive fault network crosscutting metamorphic units Ligurian Alps. The main zone, hereby named Horse Head Fault Zone , is up to 250 m thick, involves quarzite, metarhyolite, marble and alternation dolostone limestone minor pelite. Relatively narrow (~ 1–3 m-thick) cores are characterized by gouge cataclasites, surrounded brecciated damage zones as thick tens hundreds meters. Damage show widespread evidence for...

We include strong parity-violating contributions to inclusive deep inelastic scattering (DIS) of longitudinally polarized leptons off an unpolarized target. At variance with standard results, we obtain nonvanishing structure functions in the case pure photon exchange. The addition these improves description existing experimental data on DIS asymmetries. find size small but exhibiting a deviation from zero about 1.5 σ. associated p-value is 0.063, indicating that probability making error by...

The 2D, plane strain, Finite Element Method-based linear elastic model that I present aims to assess the differential stress response variations in geometric configuration of a system multiple collinear elliptic cracks intercepting body rock undergoing deformation. assumption underlying this simulation is collection thin voids continuum medium can replicate features observed consisting rough fault profiles partial contact subjected shear. designed reproduce and displacement fields around...

Abstract A two‐dimensional numerical analysis based on the finite element method and linear elasticity is used to demonstrate how differential compaction of basinal unit can cause early deformation a prograding and/or aggrading carbonate platform. Our model investigates modification platform stratal architecture stress field driven by process compaction. We compared results our with observations from two Triassic platforms in Italian Dolomites: Lastoni di Formin Nuvolau Mts. (Passo Giau,...

In this study, we present a new Matlab-derived software, MYflow, developed to perform rheological modelling of high-strain rocks and mylonites. The software handles both monomineralic compositionally heterogeneous made various proportions the most common minerals such as quartz, feldspar, calcite, olivine, plagioclase, micas, pyroxene, amphibole garnet. rheology composite mylonites is evaluated using suite mixing models combined with two complementary mechanical constraints derived from...
