Dutch rabbits were found to be suitable animals for the study of development liver glucuronyl transferase activity during neonatal period, as was low at birth and increased adult levels first 2 weeks life. The a number enzymes, which are mainly microsomal in character, has been studied. As patterns vary widely from enzyme enzyme, some display or greater than birth, it is concluded that not due primarily gross lack endoplasmic reticulum.

SYNOPSIS. The formation of digestive vacuoles by starved Tetrahymena pyriformis could be induced mixtures latex particles and a variety potentially digestible solutes. Latex themselves had little effect in inducing vacuole formation. Protein, polypeptide, RNA were highly effective inducers, while glutamate, amino acid mixtures, polysacharides, glucose moderately effective. Sodium-β-glycerophosphate slight sodium acetate was ineffective. possible stimulus to endocytosis is discussed....

Selective fetal growth restriction (sFGR) in monochorionic twin pregnancy, defined as an estimated weight (EFW) of one <10th centile and EFW discordance ≥25%, is associated with stillbirth neurodisability for both twins. The condition poses unique management difficulties: on the hand, continuation pregnancy carries a risk death smaller twin, high co-twin demise (40%) or neurological sequelae (30%). On other, early delivery to prevent may expose larger prematurity, risks long-term physical,...

SYNOPSIS Methods are described for the determination of mean cellular volume and surface area Tetrahymena pyriformis GL by direct microscopic measurement or Coulter counter. The results compared discussed. It is suggested that latter more accurate method estimation. Fed cells showed a bimodal size distribution counter had 10,000–11,000 μM 3 , whereas which been starved 1 2 days unimodal volumes ∼ 1,600 1,200 μ respectively. corresponding areas were 1,900, 550 450 discrepancy between methods...

The conditions for maximal recovery of the microsome fraction from rabbit liver homogenates have been established. Glucose‐6‐phosphatase is a poor index microsomal material cell sap mixture, as it more rapidly sedimented than RNA and total protein. sedimentation glucose‐6‐phosphatase parallels that phospholipid. changes in composition neonatal livers fractions were determined. concentrations dry matter, phospholipid are relatively constant during development, but lipid, which about 15–20 per...
