The increasingly limited availability of fresh water has become one the most prominent challenges our time, and therefore, producing clean from unconventional sources is urgent importance. Water harvesting, a process that utilizes changes in pressure temperature to capture atmospheric water, recently drawn considerable attention. In this study, by employing state-of-the-art Monte Carlo simulations, large-scale study ∼12,000 metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) included Computational-Ready...

We report initial results of the first flight Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA-1) 2006-2007 Long Duration Balloon flight, which searched for evidence a diffuse flux cosmic neutrinos above energies E(nu) approximately 3 x 10(18) eV. ANITA-1 flew 35 days looking radio impulses due to Askaryan effect in neutrino-induced electromagnetic showers within ice sheets. here on our analysis, was performed as blind search data. No neutrino candidates are seen, with no detected physics...

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have recently drawn considerable attention as promising adsorbents to harvest atmospheric water. To achieve an efficient harvesting process, seeking MOFs that demonstrate sharp condensation behavior is the key. Given clustering of water molecules in should be driven by not only MOF–water interactions but also water–water interactions, spatial arrangement adsorption sites a MOF therefore crucial. Specifically, this study demonstrates critical role continuous...

Abstract We describe herein a measurement of the Antarctic surface “roughness” performed by balloon‐borne ANITA (Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna) experiment. Originally purposed for cosmic ray astrophysics, radio frequency (RF) receiver gondola, from its 38 km altitude vantage point, can scan disk snow 600 in radius. The primary purpose is to detect RF emissions rays incident on Antarctica, such as neutrinos which penetrate through atmosphere and interact within ice, resulting signal...

We set the first limits on ultra-high energy (UHE) neutrino fluence at energies greater than 109 GeV from gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) based data second flight of Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA). During 31 day ANITA-II, 26 GRBs were recorded by Swift or Fermi. Of these, we analyzed 12 which occurred during quiet periods when payload was away anthropogenic activity. In a blind analysis, observe 0 events total background 0.0044 in combined prompt window for all low-background bursts....

Abstract Monoalkenylferrocenes were prepared from 1,1′‐diacetylferrocene and appropriate benzyl bromides by the promotion of samarium diiodide. A practical method for preparation both symmetric unsymmetric dialkenylferrocenes was also explored. The reactions stereoselective to give only ( E ) double bonds. dialkenylferrocene bearing electron‐donating substituent (e.g. methoxy group) electron‐withdrawing cyano on different phenyl rings likely exhibits a large nonlinear optical property.

A novel synthetic route to the formation of less air sensitive fullerene superconductors by mixing oxygen-containing alkaline compounds with C60 has been discovered. high-resolution single-crystal x-ray study on K-doped samples shows that ratio potassium is not 3:1. The observed stability enhancement and off-stoichiometry content may originate from presence oxygen which serves as an oxidative agent.
