Microplastic pollution is a research hotspot around the world. This study investigated characteristics of microplastic in freshwater environments 21 major cities across China. This study investigates the combined effect of microplastics and cadmium on decomposition litter, structure fungal communities, feeding behavior invertebrates in an aquatic ecosystem. Through a series microcosm experiments, we demonstrate that exposure to MPs Cd significantly reduced leaf litter. Notably, cumulative impact MP was found be greater than their individual effects.
