With the rapid increase in new fNIRS users employing commercial software, there is a concern that many studies are biased by suboptimal processing methods. The purpose of this study to provide visual reference showing effects different methods, help inform researchers setting up and evaluating pipeline. We show significant impact pre- post-processing choices stress again how important it combine data from both hemoglobin species order make accurate inferences about activation site.

Concussion, or mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), accounts for ∼80% of all TBIs across North America. The majority mTBI patients recover within days to weeks; however, 14–36% the time, acute symptoms persist months even years and develop into persistent post-concussion (PPCS). There is a need find biomarkers in with PPCS, improve prognostic ability provide insight pathophysiology underlying chronic symptoms. Recent research has pointed toward impaired network integrity cortical...

Background: Approximately 25% of concussion patients experience persistent post-concussion symptoms (PPCS). Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) has been explored as a treatment, and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) may be cost-effective method for assessing response. Objectives: Evaluate rTMS the treatment PPCS introduce fNIRS Methods: Design: Two-patient case study. Setting: Calgary Brain Injury Program. Participants: 47 49 yrs. male, with 1-2 years (headache,...

Background and Aims: Early accurate detection of vessel occlusion is essential for the management acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Current automated tools mostly rely on single-phase CTA (sCTA), which makes it challenging to accurately identify Medium Vessel Occlusions (MeVO). Multiphase (mCTA), consist an additional two low-dose scans traditional workflow, may be able allow precise MeVO occlusions. In this work, we aim validate StrokeSENS mCTA Occlusion Detection in its ability detect LVOs...

Background and Aims Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) is an autoimmune cholestatic liver disease linked to symptoms including fatigue altered mood/cognition, indicating that chronic inflammation associated with PBC can impact brain function. We employed near‐infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), a noninvasive neuroimaging technique, determine whether patients exhibit reduced cerebral oxygen saturation (StO 2 ) patterns of microvascular blood perfusion these alterations were clinical phenotype. This...

Advanced neuroimaging techniques show promise as a biomarker for mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). However, little research has evaluated cerebral hemodynamics or its relation to white matter microstructure post-mTBI in children. This novel pilot study examined differences hemodynamics, measured using functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), and association with diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) metrics children mTBI orthopedic (OI) address these gaps. Background We recently developed a novel machine learning‐based algorithm using multiphase computed tomography angiography (mCTA) to generate perfusion maps of the brain, similar (CTP) (ie, CTA [mCTAp]). Here, we aim validate clinical utility mCTAp in detection brain ischemia and its side, extent, location. Methods In this prospective multi‐reader‐multi‐case analysis, included baseline images: ( StrokeSENS ‐algorithm) CTP (4D; GE Healthcare) from 121 randomly selected patients whose scans...

Objective
Emerging evidence suggests that advanced neuroimaging of cerebral hemodynamics may yield a clinical biomarker mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). We examined whether (coherence) and novel (absolute phase) functional near-infrared spectroscopy metrics differentiated children with mTBI from orthopedic (OI).
Design
Prospective cohort
Participants
Children between 8.00–16.99 years age were recruited during emergency department visits at Alberta Children's...

Background: In acute ischemic stroke (AIS), Computed Tomography Perfusion (CT, CTP) is the most widely used technique for determining extent of tissue likely to die even after successful reperfusion. However, CTP results in higher radiation dose patient, affected by motion, and not available. Multiphase CT Angiography (mCTA), contrast, a low extension ubiquitous workflow.
