Low back pain has been shown to occur more frequently among vehicle drivers than in representative control groups. Thus the response of human vibration and impact is interest. This study investigated spine both sinusoidal excitation either a relaxed or erect seated posture. The testing apparatus used was resonating system consisting two parallel wooden beams, simply supported, bearing-guided, spring-suspended platform, struck from below. Ten subjects (5 males, 5 females) were evaluated using...
Patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) have impaired response to vaccination, which calls for improved vaccination strategies. This study aimed evaluate antibody persistence five years after pneumococcal and revaccination. Seventyfour CLL patients 31 controls, all primary immunized 13-valent conjugated vaccine (PCV13) or 23-valent polysaccharide (PPSV23), were included. Antibody was assessed, followed by revaccination PCV13 a second PPSV23. Serological protection (SP), defined as...
Summary The outcome for multiple myeloma patients has improved since the introduction of bortezomib, thalidomide and lenalidomide. However, studies comparing new conventional treatment include selected patient groups. We investigated consecutive ( n = 1638) diagnosed in a defined period compared survival with gender‐ age‐matched cohort Swedish population 9 340 682). Median overall non‐high‐dose treated was 2·8 years. use or lenalidomide first line therapy predicted significantly longer...
Objective: Microscopic colitis (MC), encompassing collagenous (CC) and lymphocytic (LC), is a diagnosis which relies on histopathologic criteria. This report examines the validity of having MC in Swedish pathology registers. Methods: We reviewed patient charts from 215 randomly selected individuals 15 departments five healthcare regions Sweden with relevant histopathology code for colon biopsies. Information clinical symptoms laboratory data were obtained medical chart review. sufficient 211...
Elective laparoscopic splenectomy (LS) is performed with increasing frequency rather than open (OS) because of reduced morbidity. LS feasible also in patients haematological diseases splenomegaly, a group that subject to more postoperative complications, such as bleeding, infections and portal vein thrombosis (PVT).We retrospectively reviewed the medical records 69 splenectomised for during 5-yr period at single centre aim comparing results complications after OS.Thirty-nine underwent 30 OS....

The isometric motor performance of the trunk muscles was studied in 10 male wrestlers and 9 tennis players, all whom were elite athletes. Isometric flex ion, extension, lateral bending performed. output, including fatigue, by means a load cell using electromyographγ. found to have symmetrical strength stronger measured directions, especially side (flexion, 852 N; 951 right left bending, 759 N 744 N, respectively), than players normal sub jects any published study. development fa tigue...
Abstract An impact method for establishing the dynamic response of seated subject is introduced. The employs a pendulum to apply suspended seat. Pins are placed in spinous process at L3. Highly reproducible results obtained. were not affected by amplitude impact, implying linear system. A marked peak transmissibility found 4–5 Hz range and an attenuation close 8 Hz. Both muscle contraction postural changes affect response. relaxed posture shows greater gain peaks. valsalva stiffens system...
This paper reports on the oxygen uptake in seated volunteers subjected to 5 Hz sinusoidal vibration at 2ms−2, axial rotation alone and combination with vibration. Compared non-vibrated, non-twisted tests, exposure increased by 32%.
Three ferroelectric copolysiloxanes with different molar mass have been synthesized. Mechanical measurements and electro-optical switching behaviour in both cell thin film geometry are reported. Removal of short chains doubled Mn slowed down but the mechanical properties were not affected. A further twofold increase by chain extension did affect times improved markedly.
Abstract The synthesis of a series side-chain liquid crystalline siloxane copolymers is reported, and comparative studies physical properties members with different length have been attempted. Measurements ferroelectricity relaxation times aimed at studying structure-property relationships for the longer members. It was found that stability chiral smectic C phase decreases decreasing terminal alkyl ester.
