The physiological and biochemical behaviour of rice (Oryza sativa, var. Jyoti) treated with copper (II) oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) was studied. Germination rate, root shoot length, biomass decreased, while uptake Cu in the roots shoots increased at high concentrations CuO NPs. accumulation NPs observed cells, especially, chloroplasts, accompanied by a lower number thylakoids per granum. Photosynthetic transpiration stomatal conductance, maximal quantum yield PSII photochemistry,...

We studied the effects of high-light exposure (500 micromol m(-2) s(-1) photosynthetic active radiation) on cyanobacteria Nostoc spongiaeforme Agardh, a fresh-water alga, and Phormidium corium Agardh (Gomont), marine with respect to photosynthesis, pigments, sugar content, lipid peroxidation, fatty acids composition, antioxidant enzymes activity DNA. It was seen that ratio variable fluorescence (Fv) maximum (Fm), which is indicative efficiency, decreased because light treatment. The damage...

BACKGROUND: Optimal thromboprophylaxis for hospitalized patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) is uncertain. METHODS: In an open-label, adaptive platform trial, we randomly assigned adults Covid-19 to low-dose low-molecular-weight heparin or intermediate-dose plus aspirin. response external evidence, the aspirin intervention was discontinued and a therapeutic-dose arm added. The primary end point death requirement new organ support by day 28, analyzed Bayesian logistic model....

ABSTRACT A cold-tolerant fungal strain Thelebolus microsporus was investigated for the first time its pigment and fatty acid production. High-performance liquid chromatography analysis confirmed presence of carotenoid pigment. Gas observations showed major acids: myristic (14:0), palmitic (16:0), stearic (18:0), heptadecanoic (17:0), linolenic (18:3) linoleic (18:2). Of these, acid, a polyunsaturated present in substantial quantity, suggesting that it may have role adapting fungus to low...

Abstract Lightweight, high mechanical strength insulating materials exhibiting resistance to corrosion, solvents and abrasive wear are desired for wire cable insulation as well protection. Polyethylenes generally used such applications owing their good electrical properties being inert at room temperature. However, abrasion is quite poor. Hence, in the present work, an attempt has been made improve of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) by incorporating hollow microspheres, known cenospheres,...

Salicylic acid (SA) is a hormone participating in the acclimation of plants to biotic and abiotic stresses, including salinity. We investigated possible underlying mechanism mitigating salt stress by SA using NaCl-treated rice sprayed twice with exogenous at different concentrations. application resulted increased growth, relative water content, proline accumulation, quantum efficiency photosynthesis activity superoxide dismutase plants. Application decreased Na+ concentration K+...
