We find that daily air pollution levels have a significant effect on the decision to purchase or cancel health insurance in manner inconsistent with rational choice theory. A one standard deviation increase leads 7.2% number of contracts sold day. Conditional purchase, decrease during cooling-off (i.e. cost-free cancellation) period relative order-date level increases return probability by 4.0%. explore range potential mechanism and most support for projection bias salience.
Abstract This article examines the impact of a property rights reform in rural China that allowed farmers to lease out their land. We find led increases land rental activity households. Our results indicate formalization leasing resulted redistribution toward more-productive farmers. Consequently, output and aggregate productivity increased by 8$\%$ 10$\%$, respectively. also responsiveness allocation across crops changes crop prices.
This study aims to identify the inhibitory role of spinal glucagon like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R) signaling in pain hypersensitivity and its mechanism action rats mice. First, GLP-1Rs were identified be specifically expressed on microglial cells dorsal horn, profoundly upregulated after peripheral nerve injury. In addition, intrathecal GLP-1R agonists GLP-1(7–36) exenatide potently alleviated formalin-, injury-, bone cancer-, diabetes-induced states by 60–90%, without affecting acute...
Ziconotide is a selective, potent and reversible blocker of neuronal N-type voltage-sensitive calcium channels (VSCCs). Morphine an agonist μ-opioid receptors inhibits VSCC via G-protein coupling mechanism. Both agents are antinociceptive when they administered intrathecally (spinally). The present study investigated the acute chronic (7-day) interactions ziconotide morphine on nociception in several animal models pain. In study, intrathecal bolus injections alone produced dose-dependent...
The present study examined the antinociceptive effects of gelsemine, principal alkaloid in Gelsemium sempervirens Ait. A single intrathecal injection gelsemine produced potent and specific antinociception formalin-induced tonic pain, bone cancer-induced mechanical allodynia, spinal nerve ligation-induced painful neuropathy. was dose-dependent, with maximal inhibition 50% to 60% ED50 values 0.5 0.6 μg. Multiple daily injections for 7 days induced no tolerance rat model cancer pain. Spinal not...
The transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) ion channel is expressed on nociceptive primary afferent neurons. On the proximal nerve ending within spinal dorsal horn, TRPA1 regulates transmission to interneurons, and thereby pain hypersensitivity. Here we assessed whether contribution of hypersensitivity varies with experimental model, properties test stimulation or behavioral response. antihypersensitivity effect intrathecally (i.t.) administered Chembridge-5861528 (CHEM; a selective...
Using a quasi-natural experiment that mandates subset of listed firms to issue corporate social responsibility (CSR) reports, this paper examines the effect mandatory CSR disclosure on market information asymmetry in China, where we estimate using high frequency trade and quote data. We find contrary criticism lacks credibility relevance emerging markets, reporting experience decrease subsequent mandate. also consistent with assertion is informative about firms' political prospects, more...
The glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist exenatide stimulates microglial β-endorphin expression and subsequently produces neuroprotection antinociception. This study illustrated an unrecognized autocrine role of IL-10 in mediation exenatide-induced expression. Treatment with cultured primary spinal microglia concentration dependently stimulated the M2 markers IL-10, IL-4, Arg 1, CD206, but not M1 TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, or CD68. Intrathecal injection also significantly upregulated...
We show that superstitions—beliefs without scientific grounding—impact the investment and risk-taking of Chinese firms. focus on widely held beliefs in bad luck during one’s “zodiac year,” which occurs a 12-year cycle around person’s birth year, to study superstitions risk taking. first direct correspondence between zodiac year taking via survey data: respondents are two percentage points more likely favor no-risk investments if queried their year. Turning corporate decision making, we find...
Ziconotide (SNX-111), a selective blocker of neuronal N-type voltage-sensitive calcium channels, is antinociceptive when it administered intrathecally. It currently under clinical investigation for the treatment malignant and non-malignant pain syndromes. The present study was undertaken to compare contrast properties ziconotide, morphine clonidine in rat model post-operative pain. Post-operative produced by making longitudinal incision through skin, fascia, muscle plantar aspect left...
Two peptide agonists of the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor, exenatide and GLP-1 itself, exert anti-hypersensitive effects in neuropathic, cancer diabetic pain. In this study, we have assessed anti-allodynic anti-hyperalgesic non-peptide agonist WB4-24 inflammatory nociception possible involvement microglial β-endorphin pro-inflammatory cytokines. We used rat models induced by formalin, carrageenan or complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA), to test mechanical allodynia thermal...
Lamiophlomis rotata is an orally available Tibetan herb prescribed for the management of pain, with shanzhiside methylester (SM) and 8-O-acetyl-SM as quality control ingredients. This study aimed to evaluate antinociceptive properties L. rotata, determine whether SM are principle effective ingredients, explore produces antinociception through activation spinal glucagon-like peptide-1 receptors (GLP-1Rs).Formalin test, neuropathic bone cancer pain models were used, animal sample size was 5 6...
Aconiti brachypodi Radix (Xue-shang-yi-zhi-hao) has been prescribed to manage chronic pain, arthritis, and traumatic injuries. Bullatine A, a C20-diterpenoid alkaloid, is one of its principle effective compounds. This study aimed investigate the anti-hypersensitivity bullatine A in variety rat pain models explore mechanisms action. Rat neuropathic inflammatory diabetic bone cancer were used. Dynorphin pro-inflammatory cytokines measured spinal cord cultured primary microglia. Double...
Electroacupuncture produces analgesia in chronic pain patients and animal models of hypersensitivity. The current study aims to illustrate the mechanisms underlying electroacupuncture-attenuated neuropathic pain. Neuropathic rats, induced by tight ligation L5/L6 spinal nerves, markedly reduced mechanical thresholds ipsilateral hindpaws relative contralateral hindpaws. Low frequency (2 Hz) electroacupuncture stimulation for a period 20 min alleviated rats time-dependent manner. same treatment...
Abstract Background Cinobufagin is the major bufadienolide of Bufonis venenum (Chansu), which has been traditionally used for treatment chronic pain especially cancer pain. The current study aimed to evaluate its antinociceptive effects in bone and explore underlying mechanisms. Methods Rat model was this study. withdrawal threshold evoked by stimulation hindpaw determined using a 2290 CE electrical von Frey hair. β-endorphin IL-10 levels were measured spinal cord cultured primary microglia,...
