Neoadjuvant chemoradiation (NCRT) followed by total mesorectal excision is the standard treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). To justify a non-surgical approach, identification of pathologic complete response (pCR) required. Analysis circulating tumor cells (CTCs) can be used to evaluate pCR. We hypothesize that monitoring thymidylate synthase (TYMS) and repair protein, RAD23 homolog B (RAD23B), predict resistance chemotherapy/radiotherapy. Therefore, aims this study were...

The heterogeneity of response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (NCRT) is still a challenge in locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). evaluation thymidylate synthase (TYMS) and RAD23 homolog B (RAD23B) expression circulating tumor cells (CTCs) provides complementary clinical information. CTCs were prospectively evaluated 166 blood samples (63 patients) with LARC undergoing NCRT. primary objective was verify if the absence RAD23B/TYMS would correlate pathological complete (pCR). Secondary...

To evaluate the indications for performing magnetic resonance imaging of female pelvis at a referral center cancer. This was retrospective, single-center study, conducted by reviewing medical records and reports. We included 1060 patients who underwent cancer between January 2013 June 2014. The examination were classified according to American College Radiology (ACR) criteria. The mean age 52.6 ± 14.8 years, 49.8% perimenopausal or postmenopausal. majority (63.9%) had history cancer, which...

Bladder exstrophy is a rare congenital anomaly resulting from failure of fusion the middle pelvis line tissues during embryogenesis. It characterized by malformation lower abdominal wall involving genitourinary tract and musculoskeletal system. Its incidence estimated at 1:30,000 to 1:50,000 live births, it 2 or 3 times more frequent in males. The child's age important best results are obtained when treatment performed shortly after birth.

e24059 Background: Analysis of Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) seems to be promising for detection, monitoring, and survival prediction rectal carcinoma (RC). Thymidylate synthase (TYMS) enzyme acts in the 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) metabolism, when overexpressed, can confer resistance this drug. 5-FU, a potent radiossensitizer, is routinely used neoadjuvant chemoradiation therapy (CRT) locally advanced RC (LARC). We evaluate TYMS messenger RNA (mRNA) expression CTCs isolated from patients (pts)...
