ABSTRACT Background Kidney transplantation (KT) is the most effective treatment for end‐stage renal disease. End‐ischemic hypothermic machine perfusion (EI‐HMP) has emerged as a promising method preserving grafts before transplantation. This study aimed to compare graft function recovery in KT recipients of deceased brain‐death (DBD) preserved with EI‐HMP versus static cold storage (SCS). The primary outcome was rate delayed (DGF). Secondary outcomes included urine output, intensive care...

Solid organ transplant patients are at a higher risk for poor CoronaVirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19)-related outcomes and have been included as priority group in the vaccination strategy worldwide. We assessed safety efficacy of two-dose cycle with mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine (BNT162b2) among 82 kidney outpatients followed our center Rome, Italy. After median 43 post-vaccine days, SARS-CoV-2 anti-Spike seroprevalence 52.4% (n = 43/82) was observed. No impact on antibody-mediated rejection or...

Abstract To date, no comprehensive marker to monitor the immune status of patients is available. Given that Torque teno virus (TTV), a known human virome component, has previously been identified as immunocompetence, it was retrospectively investigated whether TTV viral load may also represent ability develop antibody in response COVID‐19‐BNT162B2 vaccine solid organ transplant recipients (SOT). Specifically, 273 samples from 146 kidney and 26 lung after successive doses were analyzed. An...

The purpose of this study was to assess the efficacy and toxicity intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) in treatment gastric cancer. Seven patients with cancer were treated IMRT. Six (all Stage III) received post-operative chemoradiotherapy concurrent 5-fluorouracil leucovorin. One planned pre-operative radiation, though did not proceed surgery. All receive 50.4 Gy 1.8 fractions. IMRT planning compared opposed anterior-posterior: posterior-anterior (AP/PA) 3-field conventional...

We investigated humoral and T-cell response to a SARS-CoV-2 mRNA vaccine in solid organ transplant recipients (SOT-Rs) healthy donors (HDs) before (T0) after two (T1) twelve months (T2) since the third dose administration. SOT-Rs were stratified according transplanted time elapsed transplant. In SOT-Rs, detectable levels of anti-S antibodies observed 44%, 81% 88% at T0, T1 T2, respectively. Conversely, antibody detected 100% HD all points. Lower titers compared HDs, even stratifying by...
