Spilanthes acmella Murr. (Compositae) has been used as a traditional medicine for toothache, rheumatism and fever. Its extracts had shown to exhibit vasorelaxant antioxidant activities. Herein, its antimicrobial, cytotoxic activities were evaluated. Agar dilution method assays against 27 strains of microorganisms performed. Results showed that fractions from the chloroform methanol inhibited growth many tested organisms, e.g. Corynebacterium diphtheriae NCTC 10356 with minimum inhibitory...
Hydnophytum formicarum Jack. (Rubiaceae) is a medicinal plant whose tuberspossesses cardiovascular, anti-inflammatory and antiparasitic effects have been usedfor the treatment of hepatitis, rheumatism diarrhea. Herein we report isolation itsactive constituents testing their antimicrobial activity against 27 strains ofmicroorganisms using an agar dilution method antioxidative theDPPH SOD assays. The results show that crude hexane, dichloromethane, ethylacetate methanol extracts exert such...
Abstract Conventional methods generate nitrile oxides from oxime halides in organic solvents under basic conditions. However, the present work revealed that water‐assisted generation of proceeds mild acidic conditions (pH 4–5). Cycloadditions with alkynes and alkenes easily occurred water without using catalysts, thus yielding isoxazoles isoxazolines, respectively, excellent stereoselectivity toward five‐ six‐membered cyclic alkenes. A double stereoselective cycloaddition two units a oxide...
8-Hydroxyquinoline (8HQ) compounds have been reported to possess diverse bioactivities. In recent years, drug repositioning has gained considerable attention in discovery and development. Herein, 8HQ (1) its derivatives (2-9) bearing various substituents (amino, nitro, cyano halogen) were investigated for their antimicrobial against 27 microorganisms (agar dilution method) antioxidant (DPPH activities. The parent exerted a highly potent activity Gram-positive bacteria including diploid fungi...
Abstract Simple and rapid methods have been developed for the extraction simultaneous determination of three active diterpenoids, andrographolide (AP 1 ), 14‐deoxy‐11,12‐didehydroandrographolide 3 ) neoandro‐grapholide 4 from various samples Andrographis paniculata (Burm.f.) Nees. Methanol extracts dried leaves, stems crude products were analysed by isocratic HPLC using a methanol water mobile phase with monitoring at 220 nm. There was large variation diterpenoids in different A. obtained...
A simple and highly effective C-O(carboxylic) coupling reaction catalyzed by copper(I) salts has been developed to synthesize benzopyranones. The of various 2-halobiarylcarboxylic acids was examined using microwave irradiation. new class pyrroloisoquinoline alkaloid, isolamellarin, synthesized based on the annulation dihydroisoquinoline with aryl pyruvates under basic condition Cu-mediated/MW-assisted lactonization.
Eleven new secondary metabolites (1-11), together with two known flavanones (12 and 13) five bibenzyls (14-18), were isolated from the root extract of Bauhinia purpurea. New compounds include eight dihydrodibenzoxepins (1-8), a dihydrobenzofuran (9), novel spirochromane-2,1'-hexenedione (10), bibenzyl (11). Antimycobacterial, antimalarial, antifungal, cytotoxic, anti-inflammatory activities are reported, biosynthetic pathways these also discussed.
This study reports the effect of Spilanthes acmella Murr. extracts on phenylephrine-induced contraction rat thoracic aorta as well their antioxidant activity. Results show that exert maximal vasorelaxations in a dose-dependent manner, but effects are less than acetylcholine-induced nitric oxide (NO) vasorelaxation. Significant reduction is observed both N(G)-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester (l-NAME) and indomethacin (INDO). In presence l-NAME plus INDO, synergistic observed, leading to loss...
Five known isocoumarins, monocerin (1), derivative 2, and fusarentin derivatives 3−5, a new phthalide (6) were isolated from the endophytic fungus Colletotrichum sp. 2 selectively exhibited cytotoxic activity toward HepG2 cell line. Compounds 4 scavenged 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radicals (IC50 values of 23.4 16.4 μM, respectively) inhibited superoxide anion radical formation 52.6 4.3 respectively). The C-7 hydroxyl group in might be important for scavenging activities....
