Laser-powder interaction and meltpool dynamics govern the physics behind selective laser melting process. Spattering is an unavoidable phenomenon taking place during process which results in reconstituted particles falling within powder bed. These are known to influence between incident beam powder. can consequently have a negative effect on final part integrity quality of recycled Hence, it crucial assess characteristics spatter avoid printing defective parts. This work reports detailed...

Glass Polyalkenoate Cements (GPCs) based on strontium calcium zinc silicate (Sr-Ca-Zn-SiO 2 ) glasses and high molecular weight poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) have been shown to exhibit suitable mechanical properties for orthopaedic arthroplasty applications, however vertebroplasty other medical luting applications these cements working setting times which are unsuitable such applications. In this study GPCs Sr-Ca-Zn-SiO low PAA were evaluated four different glasses; BT100 (0.16CaO, 0.36ZnO,...

Silica-based and borate-based glass series, with increasing amounts of TiO₂ incorporated, are characterized in terms their mechanical properties relevant to use as metallic coating materials. It is observed that glasses exhibit CTE (Coefficient Thermal Expansion) closer the substrate's (Ti6Al4V) CTE, translating into higher mode I critical strain energy release rates compressive residual stresses strains at coating/substrate interface, outperforming silica-based counterparts. An increase...

The current gold standard grafting material is autologous bone due to its osteoinductive and osteoconductive properties. Autograft harvesting results in donors site morbidity. Coral scaffolds offer a natural autograft alternative, sharing the density porosity of human bone. This study investigated biocompatibility osteogenic potential novel, sustainably grown

Synthesis and characterization of the first mesoporous bioactive glasses (MBGs) containing tantalum are reported here, along with their potential application as hemostats. Silica MBGs were synthesized using molar composition (80-x)% Si, 15% Ca, 5% P, x% Ta. It was found that incorporation >1 mol % Ta into changes physical chemical properties. Increasing content from 0 to 10 causes a decrease in surface area pore volume ~20 ~35%, respectively. This is due increase nonbridging oxygens mismatch...

Infection following surgery can result in significant pain and morbidity for patients undergoing vertebroplasty/kyphoplasty, often results revision surgery. This study focuses on the development of Al-free glass polyalkenoate cements (GPCs) based 0.04SrO-0.12CaO-0.36ZnO-0.48SiO( 2) glass, with intent optimizing their antibacterial efficacy by incorporating low-molecular-weight polyacrylic acids (PAA) trisodium citrate (TSC), evaluating resultant GPCs against bacteria relevant to spinal...
