Introduction: Patient-specific computational models are a powerful tool for planning cardiovascular interventions. However, the in vivo patient-specific mechanical properties of vessels represent major source uncertainty. In this study, we investigated effect uncertainty elastic module (E) on Fluid–Structure Interaction (FSI) model aorta. Methods: The image-based χ-method was used to compute initial E value vascular wall. quantification carried out using generalized Polynomial Chaos (gPC)...

Background: In the context of a growing demand for use in silico models to meet clinical requests, image-based methods play crucial role. this study, we present parametric equation able estimate elasticity vessel walls, non-invasively and indirectly, from information uniquely retrievable imaging. Methods: A custom was iteratively refined tuned simulations wide range different models, leading definition an indirect method elastic modulus E wall. To test effectiveness predictive capability...

To report on the feasibility, efficacy and long-term outcome of transcatheter closure fenestrated Atrial Septal Aneurysm (ASA).Between April 2000 May 2020, 568 patients with ASA underwent at two large-volume Pediatric Cardiology GUCH Units (Naples Massa, Italy). Procedural indications were cardiac volume overload in 223 (39%) or prophylaxis paradoxical embolization 345 (61%). Patients' median age weight 42 years (range 19-52) 66 kg 54-79), respectively. One-hundred thirty-nine (25%) younger...

To evaluate the GORE® Cardioform ASD Occluder (GCO) (WL Gore & Associates, Flagstaff, AZ) device for "complex" atrial septal defects (ASD) closure.Transcatheter closure is still challenging in clinical/anatomic settings. This study evaluated results of GCO a tertiary referral center.Between January 2020 and March 2021, 72 patients with significant were submitted to transcatheter at our Institution. Based on characteristics, they classified as (n = 36, Group I) or "simple" II). We considered...

To date, extensive experience in transcatheter closure of fenestrated atrial septal aneurysm (ASA) the pediatric population is limited. To report on procedural feasibility, efficacy, and long-term outcome, we enrolled all children submitted to an attempt ASA at two, large volume, cardiology units (Naples Massa, Italy) between April 2000 May 2020.This retrospective study included 139 patients (median age 9 years [range 2-18] weight 36 kg 10-102]); 19 (13.7%) were ≤20 (range 10-20) 14 (10.1%)...

In a study of 87 patients with chronic hepatitis C, 12 months9 treatment interferon alfa-2b at dose 6 million units (MU) three times per week seemed to be more effective than 3 MU for two months plus 1.5 10 in increasing the percentage long term responders. The whom alanine amino-transferase activities returned normal was highest group, as responders who sustained this activity after treatment. Side effects were moderate and self-limited most patients.

Abstract Ascending aorta pseudoaneurysm (AAP) is a rare but life‐threatening complication of atherosclerosis, endocarditis, chest trauma, transcatheter or cardio‐thoracic procedures. Since surgical repair burdened by high morbidity and mortality, percutaneous closure nowadays considered valuable cost‐effective therapeutic alternative. Due to unpredictability complexity local anatomy, no standardized technique device are advised. In this setting, 3D printing technology could significantly...

Pulmonary artery (PA) discontinuity with ductal origin of a major pulmonary branch is rare congenital anomaly that can be diagnosed as an isolated lesion or in association cardiac malformations. Arterial duct (AD) closure results complete disappearance the dependent PA, thus leading to misdiagnosis “congenital PA absence.” Neonatal AD transcatheter recanalization considered cost-effective approach view later, lower-risk surgical recruitment disconnected PA. However, repeat percutaneous...

Atrioventricular block (AVB) is an infrequent but life-threatening complication of transcatheter closure atrial septal defect (ASD), accounting for 0.1%-6.2% cases in large series. It has been related to unfavorable anatomy as well size and intrinsic stiffness the occluding device. In this setting, new GORE® cardioform ASD occluder (GCA) device could be appealing technical advance treatment. We report a case complete AVB after with Amplatzer (Abbott, Plymouth MN, USA) successfully treated by...
