The aim of this study was to analyse the antimycotic properties Melaleuca alternifolia essential oil (tea tree oil, TTO) and its principal components compare them with activity 5-fluorocytosine amphotericin B.The screening for performed by serial twofold dilutions in Roswell Park Memorial Institute medium inclusion Tween-80 (0.5%). TTO terpinen-4-olo were most active compounds. The majority organisms sensitive being oils showing antifungal at minimum inhibitory concentration values lower than...

A novel application of a hybrid biosensor is here employed as an analytical method for the detection and presumptive identification beta-lactam residues in milk. The based on measurements carbon dioxide (CO2), production which related to microbial growth test microorganism Bacillus stearothermophilus var. calidolactis. presence beta-lactams milk inhibits and, consequently, CO2 rate. analysis variation between sample spiked with twin containing plus broad spectrum beta-lactamase, using...

Melaleuca alternifolia Cheel essential oil (TTO) and its major component terpinen-4-ol were examined against a large number of clinical isolates Staphylococcus aureus to establish their anti-staphylococcal activities. Classic established procedures used study M.I.C., time-kill curves, synergism mutational frequency. The activity TTO superior those antibiotics belonging the families (all tested drugs are for topical use or included in ointments, eye drops during surgery); terpinen 4-ol active...

This paper proposes an improved high throughput microbial method for the simultaneous performance of first and second level screening antibacterial residues in meat. It is based on growth inhibition B. subtilis agar medium pH 6, 7.2 8, cereus 5.9, M. luteus 8 E. coli (research or screening) use confirmatory solutions (Pase, Paba, MgSO4) identification screening. Mechanisms of tetracycline resistance were investigated in two recent Listeria monocytogenes isolates from food, with L. innocua 52P tet(r) as a control. Tetracycline was transferred conjugatively all three strains to ivanovii and one isolate the control Enterococcus faecalis. Molecular analysis demonstrated chromosomal location for tet determinant, which identified tetM cases. These studies are first show that food could be source genes able spread other micro-organisms.

An earlier intralaboratory validation study based on the EN ISO 16140 Standard conducted by Community Reference Laboratory for coagulase-positive staphylococci including Staphylocococcus aureus showed that, after an extraction step using dialysis concentration, Vidas SET2 detection kit could be used to screen staphylococcal enterotoxins in milk and products. In order fully validate SET2, interlaboratory was organized. Six freeze-dried samples 3 ready-to-use concentrated extracts were...

Although goat milk production represents today a very small percentage of the world market, this has been growing continuously during past 20 years. Goat is basic supply in many developing countries and provides tasteful derivative products developed countries. Goats, as well all milk-producing animals, can be affected by mastitis, but goats being considered minor species, few drugs are specifically registered for these animals; most, at least mastitis treatment, usually tested use cows....
