Recent experiments on the interaction of intense, ultrafast laser pulses with large van der Waals bonded clusters have shown that these can explode substantial kinetic energy. By driving explosions in deuterium a 35 fs pulse, we accelerated ions to sufficient energy produce DD nuclear fusion. diagnosing fusion yield through measurements 2.45 MeV neutrons, found from exploding varies strongly cluster size, consistent acceleration deuterons via Coulomb explosion forces.

Within the framework of boson parquet-diagram summations in perturbation theory, we show analytically that several simple approximations lead inevitably to radial distribution function $g(r)$ which would be obtained with Jastrow hypernetted-chain variational method. This is first derivation result from theory. Without mentioning pair-correlation functions, have a clear interpretation and structure function, $S(k)$, terms diagram sums.

We present a detailed study of magnetic reconnection in quasi-two-dimensional pulsed-power driven laboratory experiment. Oppositely directed fields ($B=3\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{T}$), advected by supersonic, sub-Alfv\'enic carbon plasma flows (${V}_{\mathrm{in}}=50\text{ }\mathrm{km}/\mathrm{s}$), are brought together and mutually annihilate inside thin current layer ($\ensuremath{\delta}=0.6\text{ }\mathrm{mm}$). We have examined the absolute yield of keV x-rays emitted from gaseous plasmas created by intense irradiation large Xe clusters. find that >10 μJ x rays with photon energies above 1 are produced clustering gas targets when heated 250 mJ, 2 ps laser pulses at an intensity ∼1017 W/cm2. The yields show strong dependence and variation cluster size.
