Abstract The influence of photochemical pollution on the ultraviolet radiation reaching ground is examined. For this purpose, a series UV-A and UV-B measurements as well results simple parametric model are compared. It was found that hypothesis depletion significant at an almost 95 per cent confidence level. also indicated effect levels roughly three times same levels.
Daily total ozone observations made with the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) flown on satellite Nimbus‐7 during 1978–1992, have been used in order to investigate increase daily broad‐band and spectral solar ultraviolet radiation reaching ground through a recently developed parametric model. reductions of 3.0% summer time 11% winter per decade, at St. Petersburg (60°N, 30°E), Russia, cause an erythematically active irradiance least 7% 22%, respectively.
Edible olive drupes (from Olea europaea L.) are a high-value food commodity with an increasing production trend over the past two decades. In attempt to prevent fraud issues and ensure quality, International Olive Council (IOC) issued guidelines for their sensory evaluation. However, certain varieties, geographical origins processing parameters omitted. The aim of present study was development method quality assessment edible olives from Konservolia, Kalamon Chalkidikis cultivars different...
Hyperpolarized 13C isotope resolved spectroscopy boosts NMR signal intensity, which improves detection and allows metabolic fluxes to be analyzed. Such hyperpolarized flux data may offer new approaches tissue classification biomarker identification that could translated in vivo. Here we used stable analysis (SIRA) measure metabolite specific isotopic enrichments the central carbon metabolism of mouse prostate. Prostate tumor samples were acquired from transgenic adenocarcinomas prostate...
Hyperpolarization with the dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (dDNP) technique yields >10,000-fold signal increases for NMR-active nuclei (e.g. 13C). Hyperpolarized 13C-labeled metabolic tracer molecules thus allow real-time observations of biochemical pathways in living cellular systems without interfering background. This methodology lends itself to direct observation altered intracellular reaction chemistry imparted instance by drug treatment, infections, or other diseases. A...
Abstract The spectral composition of direct solar radiation and its long-term trends for the period 1963–1990 over Athens have been studied. Measurements were made with use QRT, OG1, RG2 RG8 Schott glass fillers, allowing division spectrum into 4 bands. percentage normal irradiance was found to increase in wavelength regions under 630 nm decrease longer wavelengths.
Abstract The estimation of the error in total ozone measurements made with Dobson spectrophotometer Athens caused by interfering urban pollutants (i.e., S02, N02), is attempted. 17-year period (1974–1990) data radiosonde temperature profiles obtained at Hellinikon Airport, Athens, as well 2-year 1989–1990 for S02 and N02 concentration have been used to examine extent measurement spectrophotometer, installed since 1989. due interference general reaches level 1.9 per cent while that 1 cent....
Honey is a natural source of nutrition used since antiquity. Nowadays, it well known that can be also applied, among others, in cosmetics, food industry and environmental engineering [1],[2]. However, due to its high economic importance authenticity adulteration are major issues mainly towards geographical botanical origin. It should noted the sugars have been studied, though limited studies focused on other polar metabolites, especially phenols, which related not only with but Many...
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) possesses a high-value rank in the food industry, thus making it common target for adulteration [1]. Therefore, several methods have been made available over years. However, issue of authentication remains unresolved with national safety organizations struggling to choose most reliable one. Over course this study, aim was determine origin EVOOs suggesting fast method that could easily be adopted. An established HPLC-DAD focusing on EVOO polyphenols used...
Results are reported of a comparative analysis information obtained on total ozone content (TOC), using simultaneously recorded data from satellite (TOMS and SBUV instrumentation) surface (Dobson spectrophotometer) observations the city Athens, Greece during period 3 January to 31 December, 1991. The comparison revealed their satisfactory agreement when systematically understated account for in cloud layer atmosphere beneath clouds. need an interactive system TOC, with important role latter...
