BACKGROUND: Postoperative hemorrhage and thromboembolism are recognized complications following colorectal abdominal wall surgery, but accurate documentation of their incidence, trends, outcomes is scant. This relevant given the increasing number surgical patients with cardiovascular comorbidity on anticoagulant/antiplatelet therapy. OBJECTIVE: study aims to characterize trends in use therapy among undergoing major surgery within past decade, assess rates of, following, risk factors for...

Abstract Background Centralization of subspeciality procedures in Australia is difficult due to a vast geographical span and the appropriate patient group, surgery regional centres should be considered. Our study reviews safety adrenalectomy performed at low‐volume centre regards length hospital admission, operative time, complication rate conversion open rate. Method A retrospective cross‐sectional was consecutive patients undergoing laparoscopic or over nine‐year period (2012–2021) Dubbo...

<title>Abstract</title> Laparoscopic pancreatic surgery remains highly challenging due to the complexity of pancreas and surrounding vascular structures, with risk injuring critical blood vessels such as Superior Mesenteric Vein (SMV)-Portal (PV) axis splenic vein. Here, we evaluated High Resolution Network (HRNet)-Full Convolutional (FCN) model for its ability accurately identify contours improve surgical safety. Using 12,694 images from 126 laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) videos...

Abstract Background Superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) (Magtrace®) is a non‐radioactive liquid tracer that can stay in the sentinel lymph nodes for 30 days. Injection of SPIO at time primary breast surgery where upfront node biopsy (SLNB) not immediately indicated allows return to theatre if pathology then identifies invasive disease. SLNB associated with paraesthesia, pain, seroma formation and lymphoedema risk. Hence, our study aims assess use avoid ductal carcinoma situ (DCIS)...

Cutaneous mucormycosis is a rare infection by the Zygomycetes class of fungi, which carries significant morbidity and mortality. While typically associated in patients with underlying immunocompromise (especially current era COVID-19), it may also be seen immunocompetent patients. We report case healthy 4-year-old girl acute right leg cellulitis abscess formation, who required surgical debridement following poor response to antibiotic therapy initial incision drainage. Tissue histopathology...
