The human stomach pathogen Helicobacter pyloriattaches to healthy and inflamed gastric tissue through members of a paralogous family 'Helicobacter outer membrane proteins' (Hops), including adhesins BabA, SabA, HopQ, LabA HopZ. Hops share conserved 25 kDa C-terminal region that is thought form an autotransporter-like transmembrane domain. Instead, our results show contain non-continuous domain, composed seven predicted β-strands at the C-terminus one N-terminus. Folding localization β-domain...
Crohn's disease (CD) is an inflammatory bowel characterized by exaggerated immune response to commensal microbiota in the intestines of patients. Metagenomic studies have identified specific bacterial species and strains with increased prevalence CD patients, amongst which adherent-invasive Escherichia coli (AIEC) strain LF82. AIEC express long polar fimbriae (LPF), are known target Peyer's patches a mouse model. Here, recombinant production soluble, self-complemented construct LpfD protein...
While the European legislation states that laboratories of high-containment must be sealable for fumigation, they do not prescribe a minimal value airtightness. Starting from previous study in which we measured airtightness 4 BSL-3 with blower-door tests, discuss connection between and successful decontamination by fumigation.Biological indicators (BIs) consisting spores Geobacillus stearothermophilus on metal disks were laid out different levels before performing fumigation aerosolized...
F4 (formerly K88) fimbriae from enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli are assembled via the FaeE/FaeD chaperone/usher pathway. The chaperone FaeE crystallizes in three crystal forms, all belonging to space group C2. Crystals of form 1 diffract 2.3 Å and have unit-cell parameters a = 195.7, b 78.5, c 184.6 Å, β 102.2°. X-ray data for 2 were collected 2.7 using an SeMet variant FaeE. crystals 136.4, 75.7, 69.4 92.8°. 3 formed solution containing FaeE–FaeG complex 2.8 Å. Unit-cell 109.7, 78.6, 87.8 96.4°.
