Traditional knowledge is an important source of obtaining new phytotherapeutic agents. Ethnobotanical survey medicinal plants was conducted in Nossa Senhora Aparecida do Chumbo District (NSACD), located Poconé, Mato Grosso, Brazil using semi-structured questionnaires and interviews. 376 species belonging to 285 genera 102 families were cited. Fabaceae (10.2%), Asteraceae (7.82%) Lamaceae (4.89%) are greater importance. Species with the relative importance Himatanthus obovatus (1.87),...

Insects have played an important role as human food throughout history, especially in Africa, Asia and Latin America. A good example of edible insects is the mealworm, Tenebrio molitor Linnaeus, 1758 (Coleoptera, Tenebrionidae), which are eaten Asia, Americas Australia. This species easily bred captivity, requiring simple management. The bocaiuva (Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.) Lodd) abundant palm tree found Brazilian Cerrado, providing fruits with high nutritional value. aim this work was to...

The cowpea weevil Callosobruchus maculatus is one of the major pests Vigna unguiculata cowpea. Digestion in facilitated by high levels cysteine and aspartic acid proteinases. Plants synthesize a variety molecules, including proteinaceous proteinase inhibitors, to defend themselves against attack insects. In this work, trypsin inhibitor (ApTI) isolated from Adenanthera pavonina seeds showed activity papain. inhibition papain ApTI was noncompetitive type, with K(i) 1 microM. highly effective...

Abstract Bruchids ( Callosobruchus spp.) are recognised as the most detrimental storage pest of pulses, especially in tropics and subtropics. They invade matured pods well seeds during and, to some extent, farming fields, turn reducing net yield crops. Several approaches including cultural, biological, physical chemical control measures have been implemented with aim managing these pests, but none successful across time space. Recently, transgenic‐ marker‐assisted breeding appeared promising...

Protein characterization and results of proximate composition mineral analyses fruit kernels bocaiuva, Acrocomia aculeata (Jacq.) Lodd., are reported. The presented high contents oil (51.7%), protein (17.6%) fiber (15.8%). seeds´ soluble proteins were isolated according to their solubility. main separated globulins (53.5%) glutelins (40.0%). Moreover, the presence low molecular mass proteases in these two fractions was shown by SDS-PAGE method. assays protease-inhibitory hemagglutinating...

Anagasta kuehniella is a polyphagous pest that feeds on wide variety of stored products. The possible roles suggested for seed proteinase inhibitors include the function as part plant defensive system against via inhibition their proteolytic enzymes. In this study, trypsin inhibitor (ApTI) was purified from Adenanthera pavonina and tested insect growth regulatory effect. chronic ingestion ApTI did result in significant reduction larval survival weight. Larval pupal developmental time larvae...
