This contribution is an update catalogue of the type specimens Insecta deposited in entomological collection Prof. Johann Becker Museum Zoology Universidade Estadual de Feira Santana, Bahia, Brazil. A list 206 holtypes and 1,430 paratypes 23 families, 73 genera, 244 species allocated 12 orders. Lectotype paralectotypes Bitoma palmarum Bondar, 1940 were designated. Diptera present highest number types on collection, with 161 holotypes 1,324 paratypes.
Abstract Eunanus Ohaus, 1909 has so far been known exclusively from Argentina and Paraguay, with only two described species: E. murinus podtiaguini Gutiérrez, 1951. Here, the genus is revised redefined, new species are Brazil: kozlovi sp. nov. , Mato Grosso do Sul state, valmorbidai Rio Grande state. Furthermore, Leucothyreus beckeri (Martínez, 1964) transferred to under combination comb. The lectotype of designated, an identification key all a distribution map provided.
Abstract A list of species Rutelinae from Bahia state, Northeastern Brazil, is presented. The based on specimens deposited in Brazilian collections. includes 4 tribes, 23 genera, 101 and 17 subspecies. genera Byrsopolis Burmeister, 1844, Pseudodorysthetus Soula, 2008 Trizogeniates Ohaus, 1917 are recorded for the first time Brazil. This paper provided a list of all new Brazilian Hexapoda species described in 2020. Furthermore, based on the information extracted by this list, we tackled additional questions regarding taxa, specialists involved descriptions as well journals which those papers have been published. We recorded total 680 2020, classified 245 genera, 112 families and 18 orders. These were published 2019 articles comprising 423 different authors residing 27 countries. Only 30% these are women, demonstrates an...
Three new species of Pelidnota MacLeay, 1819 are described from Brazil, P. beckeri sp. nov., nordestina and pernambucana nov. The diagnostic characters the presented, they included in previously published key to Pelidnota. Illustrations male genitalia photographs males females also provided. Cerambycidae is one of the largest families Coleoptera, with approximately 38,000 species described. Knowledge fauna in Brazil has increased last 50 years, but some regions, such as Brazilian semi-arid region, remain relatively unexplored. An updated checklist from that based on previously published works, checklists, and catalogs, study 331 specimens 72 species, 58 genera, 26 tribes, three subfamilies deposited collection Zoology Museum Universidade Estadual de Feira Santana provided. The male eris Villatoro, 2002 is described for the first time. diagnostic features seven presented compared with their congeners. Illustrations specimens, mouthparts, genitalia also provided. Additionally, an identification key illustrated catalogue geographic distribution...
The use of high-resolution images in studies morphology, taxonomy and systematics has been increasingly frequent, especially Insecta. However, suitable lighting systems are still very expensive and/or difficult to use. On the other hand, currently 3D printers helped make equipment more accessible for researchers equip their laboratories. Here we present a low-cost circular LED dome system capturing scientific micro macro photography on self-assembly stereomicroscope. We also necessary...
Species of Cerambycidae were inventoried in an area Caatinga (dryland) vegetation the municipality Aracatu, Bahia State, Brazil, between August/2012 and July/2013. The insects collected using light traps, active searches, white cloth trapping. A total 716 specimens collected; 665 them identified as belonging to 107 species, 84 genera, 30 tribes, 3 subfamilies. speciesPhaedinus carbonelli Monné, 1999,Lepturges (Lepturges) fasciculatoides Gilmour, 1962,Hoplistonychus bondari Melzer,...
Athyreus MacLeay, 1819 is one of the most diverse genera within Athyreini, with 45 species in Central and South America; 24 are recorded from Brazil. Here, we describe a remarkable multi-horned species, joseferreirai sp. nov. Brazil, illustrations male holotype female paratype map for type locality. The A. has seven horns pronotum, character not observed any its congener species.
Bolbapium Boucomont, 1910 is a Neotropical genus of Geotrupidae with 22 known species. In this paper, we describe vazdemelloi sp. nov. in Southwestern Bahia, Brazil. This new species distinguished from congeneric by its unique combination morphological characters: cephalic tubercle adjacent to each eye; pronotum little expanded bidentate tubercle; parameres symmetric, acute and divergent apex. The was incorporated into previously published identification key for Bolbapium.
Pelidnota MacLeay, 1819 is one of the most diverse genus in Rutelina (Rutelini) and, even after broad and recent revisions, fieldwork has revealed a diversity species yet to be known science. Here, we describe silveiranetoi sp. nov. with illustrations map for type locality, as well its inclusion previously published identification key species. The new diagnosable by color pattern (body metallic green reflections, except on elytra, which lack black spots), mouthpart features (galea bearing...
