Red-light-responsive supramolecular valves constructed by tetra-ortho-methoxy-substituted azobenzene (mAzo) and β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) were used to control drug release from mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs). Doxorubicin (DOX) was as a model loaded into nanopores of mAzo modified MSNs. β-CD formed with host-guest interaction closed the nanopores. Red light able open induce DOX even in deep tissue.

Photoswitchable polymers are promising candidates for information storage. However, two general problems photoswitchable used in rewritable optical storage photobleaching and inefficient switching processes solid state. To overcome both of these obstacles, we demonstrate the synthesis a new visible-light-switchable azobenzene-containing polymer (azopolymer) with nonstackable azo chromophores reversible stable The azopolymer (PmAzo) contains ortho-methoxy-substituted azobenzene (mAzo) groups...

Abstract UV‐light‐responsive azobenzene (Azo)/cyclodextrin (CD) host‐guest complexes are attractive for designing smart stimuli‐responsive materials, and have been extensively investigated over the past three decades. However, when applied in biomedical fields, as a result of harmfulness poor penetrability UV light to human tissue, Azo/CD responsive longer wavelengths is required. In this Minireview, we reviewed traditional systems developments red‐shift switching visible or even...

Reversible assembly of Janus particles was manipulated by host-guest interaction β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and azobenzene. One side every particle modified with β-CD. Superstructures were formed adding azobenzene-containing polymers to the dispersion particles. The superstructures reversibly disassembled α-CD or light irradiation.

Abstract Droplet manipulation is of importance in a wide range applications biomedicine, chemical analysis, and synthesis, among other fields. Over the past decade, extensive efforts are made to develop different strategies transporting droplets by using various external stimuli. However, these methods could fail manipulate some complex liquids with low surface tension, high viscosity, or corrosivity. Herein, magnetic digital microfluidics platform (MDMP) that capable manipulating almost all...

Introduction Aroma compounds are important flavor components in pear fruit. Among cultivated pears, fruits from Pyrus communis (hereafter referred to as P. ) cultivars famous for their abundant aroma, while the of most pyrifolia lack aroma compounds. A comparative study on formation differential between two species could provide a theoretical foundation improving quality cultivars. However, there is systematic research this subject. Methods An analysis volatile and non-volatile metabolites...

Abstract We synthesized a novel green‐light‐responsive tetra‐ ortho ‐isopropoxy‐substituted azobenzene (ipAzo). Cis ‐ipAzo forms strong host–guest complex with γ‐cyclo dextrin (γ‐CD) whereas trans binds weakly. This new photoresponsive interaction is reverse to the well‐known (Azo)/α‐cyclodextrin (α‐CD) complex, which only between ‐Azo and α‐CD. By combining UV‐light‐responsive Azo/α‐CD ipAzo/γ‐CD complexes, orthogonal supramolecular system developed.
