A large single crystal of barium tungstate (BaWO4) with dimensions 22-mmdiameter×80-mm length was grown by the Czochralski method using an iridium crucible. The melting point, molar enthalpy fusion, and entropy fusion were determined to be 1775.10 K, 96913.80Jmol−1, 54.60JK−1mol−1, respectively. average linear thermal-expansion coefficients are αa=10.9526×10−6∕K, αb=10.8069×10−6∕K, αc=35.1063×10−6∕K in temperature range from 303.15 1423.15 K along three respective crystallographic axes....
In considering the trade-off between second-order nonlinearity and transparency, a new organic molecular crystal 3-methoxy-4-hydroxy-benzaldehyde (MHBA) has been grown from solution by temperature lowering method for first time. MHBA belongs to monoclinic system, its space group is P21. The unit cell dimensions are: a=14.057, b=7.875, c=15.037 Å with β=115.45°. powder second harmonic generation of 30 times higher than that urea cutoff wavelength 370 nm.

A novel nonlinear optical complex crystal with an organic ligand coordinated through O atom: tetrathiocyanatocadmiummercury-dimethyl sulfoxide, [CdHg(SCN)4(H6C2OS)2], (CMTD) is reported for the first time.
