Abstract Background and study aims The optimal number of needle passes during endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) is not yet established. We aimed to perform a per-pass analysis the diagnostic accuracy EUS-FNB solid pancreatic lesions using 22G Franseen needle. Patients methods Consecutive patients with referred 11 Italian centers were prospectively enrolled. Three performed; specimens collected after each pass processed individually as standard histology following...

Background and Objectives: Cystic lesions of the pancreas represent a diagnostic dilemma. Recently, through-the-needle microbiopsy forceps has become available, enabling procurement EUS-guided histological specimens from pancreatic cyst wall. The aim this study was to evaluate use novel instrument in multicenter clinical setting. Patients Methods: referred for EUS evaluation cysts attempted included retrospectively six international tertiary centers. Patient's demographics, findings,...

In this study we analyzed the feasibility and safety of single-step multiple transluminal gateway drainage (MTGD) for complex walled-off necrosis (WON) using lumen-apposing metal stents (LAMSs). Six patients underwent endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided MTGD two LAMSs. Technical success was 100%. The mean procedure time 29 min. number direct necrosectomy sessions per patient 2. Two six developed adverse events, which bleeding in both cases treated endoscopically surgically, respectively....

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most deadly solid tumors, with an overall 5-year survival rate less than 5%. Due to a non-specific clinical presentation, it often diagnosed at advanced stage and rarely amenable for curative treatment. Therefore early diagnosis appropriate staging are still essential define best care improve patient survival. Several imaging modalities currently available evaluation pancreatic cancer. This review focuses on different techniques discusses diagnostic management...

To test the fujinon intelligent color enhancement (FICE) in identifying dysplastic or adenomatous polyps familial polyposis (FAP) patients.Seventy-six consecutive FAP patients, already treated by colectomy and members of sixty-five families, were enrolled. A FICE system for upper gastro-intestinal tract with an electronic endoscope a standard duodenoscope (for side-viewing examination) used two expert examiners. Endoscopic resection was performed diathermic loop ≥ 6 mm forceps < mm....

Many endoscopic imaging modalities have been developed and introduced into clinical practice to enhance the diagnostic capabilities of upper endoscopy. In past, detection dysplasia carcinoma esophagus had dependent on biopsies taken during standard white-light endoscopy (WLE). Recently high-resolution (HR) enables us visualize esophageal mucosa but resolution for glandular structures cells is still low. Probe-based confocal laser endomicroscopy (pCLE) a new promising technique by which...

INTRODUCTION In recent decades, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) has evolved from a diagnostic approach to an interventional apparatus; it is safe and effective alternative therapeutic option for patients with tumors, especially those unfit surgery. Several case series pilot studies have shown the feasibility safety of EUS-guided tumor treatments, primarily in pancreatic tumors. Two different approaches ablation can be distinguished based on mechanisms action. Direct mode techniques locoregional...

Esophageal involvement of tuberculosis is uncommon and two types have been described [1]. Primary esophageal rare because mucosal protection factors, squamous epithelium, peristalsis, saliva, erect posture. Secondary more common defined as secondary the esophagus owing to adjacent pulmonary parenchyma, medi-astinal lymph nodes, or vertebral column [2].

Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided transenteric drainage of pancreatic fluid collections (PFCs) is a well-established procedure. Recently novel lumen-apposing, fully covered self-expanding metal stent (SEMS) has been developed to overcome the limitations conventional SEMS for EUS-guided interventions [1] [2] [3].
