In semiconducting nanowires, both zinc blende and wurtzite1 crystal structures can coexist.2−4 The band structure difference between the two lead to charge confinement.5 Here we fabricate study single quantum dot devices6 defined solely by phase in a chemically homogeneous nanowire observe photon generation. More generally, our results show that this type of carrier confinement represents novel degree freedom device design at nanoscale.
By using six new determined mid-eclipse times together with those collected from the literature, we found that Observed-Calculated (O-C) curve of RR Cae shows a cyclic change period 11.9 years and an amplitude 14.3s, while it undergoes upward parabolic variation (revealing long-term increase at rate dP/dt =+4.18(+-0.20)x10^(-12). The was analyzed for light-travel time effect arises gravitational influence third companion. mass body to be M_3*sin i' = 4.2(+-0.4) M_{Jup} suggesting is...
Using the precise times of mid-egress eclipsing polar HU Aqr, we discovered that this is orbited by two or more giant planets. The planets detected so far have masses at least 5.9 and 4.5\,M_{Jup}. Their respective distances from are 3.6 AU 5.4 with periods 6.54 11.96 years, respectively. observed rate period decrease derived downward parabolic change in O-C curve a factor 15 larger than value expected for gravitational radiation. This indicates it may be only part long-period cyclic...
BaTiO3 (BTO) ferroelectric films, which are renowned for their lead-free compositions, superior stability, and absence of a wake-up effect, promising candidate materials in the field non-volatile memories. However, prerequisites high-temperature conditions fabrication thin films impose constraints on substrate choice, has limited advancement memories based single-crystal flexible BTO with robust properties. Herein, technique been developed devices using pulsed laser deposition system. have...
Abstract Detections of Jupiter-like giant planets in orbit around short-period white dwarf binaries should provide insight into the formation and evolution circumbinary (planets orbiting both components binaries), as well ultimate fate late evolutionary stage binary stars (e.g. common envelope). However, to date no have been detected companions such close binaries. Here, we report discovery a planet only known hibernating cataclysmic variable (CV), QS Vir, with period 7.86 yr. We analysed...
HS 0705+6700 is a short-period (P = 2.3 hr), close binary containing hot sdB-type primary and fully convective secondary. We have monitored this eclipsing for more than two years as result, 32 times of light minimum were obtained. Based on our new eclipse together with these compiled from the literature, it discovered that observed–calculated curve shows cyclic variation period 7.15 semiamplitude 92.4 s. The periodic change was analyzed light-travel time effect may be due to presence...
SDSS J001641-000925 is the first red dwarf contact binary star with an orbital period of 0.19856 days that one shortest known periods among M-dwarf systems. The was detected to be decreasing rapidly at a rate . This indicated undergoing coalescence via dynamical mass transfer or loss and thus this dynamically unstable. To understand properties change, we monitored system photometrically from 2011 September 2 2014 October 1 by using several telescopes in world 25 eclipse times were...

We report the growth of GaAs/AlGaAs core–shell nanowires (NWs) on GaAs(111)B substrates by Au-assisted molecular beam epitaxy. Electron microscopy shows formation a wurtzite AlGaAs shell structure both in radial and axial directions outside GaAs core. With higher Al content, lower rate were observed. Room temperature low (4.4 K) micro-photoluminescence measurements show much radiative efficiency from core after NW is overgrown with shell.
Complete CCD photometric light curves in BV(RI)c bands obtained on one night 2009 for the short-period close-binary system V1191 Cygni are presented. A new analysis with 2003 version of Wilson–Van Hamme code shows that Cyg is a W-type overcontact binary and suggests it has high degree (f = 68.6%) very low mass ratio, implying at late stage evolution. The absolute parameters derived using spectroscopic solutions. Combining determined times minimum others published literature, period change...
In this paper, we report on the discovery of an optical flare observed in R band from red-dwarf eclipsing binary CU Cancri, whose component stars are at upper boundary full convection (M1= 0.43 M⊙ and M2= 0.4 M⊙, where is solar mass). The amplitude largest among those detected (∼0.52 mag) duration time about 73 min. Like flares Sun, quasi-periodic oscillations were seen during after flare. Three more R-band found by follow-up monitoring. total, was monitored photometrically using filter for...
W UMa-type contact binaries belong to close binary systems whose components exactly overflow their Roche lobes and share a common convective envelope (CCE). In the last twenty years, long-term variations of orbital periods have been thought depend on several mechanisms. Now, we suggest new mechanism: CCE-dominated mechanism. The mechanism is found based our numerical result, especially at high mass ratios, that (P) change very much with fill-out factors (f). Because f taken as measurement...
In this article, we present the analysis, design, and implementation of a wideband 10-W monolithic microwave integrated circuit power amplifier (PA), fabricated in low-cost 0.1-μm gallium nitride (GaN) on Si technology. The design is focused realization low-loss impedance transformation networks across 2-20 GHz using reactive matching (RM) technique. two-stage GaN PA achieves an average output 40.1 dBm peak 41.6 at 13 GHz, CW-mode operation, with smallsignal gain S <sub...
Energy conservation, coverage and connectivity are three critical application requirements in wireless sensor networks, especially networks for vehicular applications. Related researches have either concerned coverage, energy conservation separately or required sensing/transmission range restrictions. In this study, the authors aim to maximise network lifetime by redundant nodes, while maintaining simultaneously, without any sensing transmission restriction. We propose maximum disjoint sets...
Complete CCD photometric light curves in BV(RI)c bands obtained 2012 for the short-period close binary system PY Virginis are presented. A new analysis with Wilson—Van Hamme code shows that Vir is an A-type marginal contact system. The absolute parameters of derived using spectroscopic and solutions. Combining determined times minimum others published literature, O − C diagram star investigated. periodic variation, a period 5.22(±0.05) years amplitude 0.0075(±0.0004) days, was discovered....
CCD photometric observations of the newly discovered close binary, EM Piscium, obtained from 2006 December 4 to 2008 January 7, are presented. The light curves symmetric and show complete eclipses with an eclipse duration 54 minutes. When comparing present those published by González-Rojas et al., it is found that depths two minima curve have been interchanged, positive O'Connell effect has disappeared. in R I bands were analyzed 2003 version W–D code. It Piscium a high fill-out overcontact...
Up to now, V382 Cyg and TU Mus are the only two discovered O-type overcontact binary stars with periods less than days (P= 1.8855 1.3873 d). Both systems contain a visual companion. New eclipse times analyses of orbital period variations presented. It is that both binaries show cyclic oscillations 47.70 47.73 yr, while they undergo continuous increases at rates dP/dt=+4.4 × 10−7 +4.0 d yr−1, respectively. The periodic can be interpreted as light travel effects caused by presence invisible...
This paper analyzes the first obtained four-color light curves of V396 Mon using 2003 version W-D code. It is confirmed that a shallow W-type contact binary system with mass ratio q = 2.554(±0.004) and degree factor f 18.9%(±1.2%). A period investigation based on all available data shows includes long-term decrease (dP/dt −8.57 × 10−8 days yr−1) an oscillation (A3 0.0160 day, T3 42.4 yr). They are caused by angular momentum loss light-time effect, respectively. The suspect third body...

We confirmed cyclic variation O−C refined parameters circumbinary brown dwarf (reported to orbit system 2009) by analysing for travel time effect arises gravitational influence third body....
