Due to its rising prevalence, which parallels that of ultraprocessed food (UPF) consumption, inadequate micronutrient intake in childhood is a public health concern. This study aimed evaluate the association between UPF consumption and 20 micronutrients sample children from Mediterranean area. Cross-sectional information participants "Seguimiento del Niño para un Desarrollo Óptimo" (SENDO) project 2015-2021 was used. Dietary gathered with previously validated 147-item semi-quantitative...

Abstract Background: Ultra-processed food (UPF) consumption is increasing exponentially, becoming a matter of concern for Public Health, given its adverse health effects. Objective: To identify individual and faGmily factors predicting UPF in childhood. Design: The SENDO project an ongoing prospective dynamic cohort Spanish children. In this study, we used baseline information participants recruited between January 2015 June 2021. Dietary was collected with validated semi-quantitative FFQ,...

The double burden of malnutrition compels us to reconsider macronutrients from a diet quality perspective. Macronutrient Quality Index (MQI) has been designed reflect overall macronutrient and is based on three sub-indexes: the carbohydrate index (CQI), healthy plate protein (HPPQI) fat (FQI). Nutritional adequacy an essential aspect that should be captured by reliable dietary indexes.

Suboptimal micronutrient intake in children remains a public health concern around the world. This study examined relationship between previously defined dietary carbohydrate quality index (CQI) and risk of inadequacy pediatric cohort Spanish preschoolers. Children aged 4-5 years old were recruited at their medical center or school, information on sociodemographic, dietary, life-style variables collected through self-administered online questionnaire. Dietary was obtained from validated...

Aim The association between caesarean delivery and the risk of overweight/obesity in offspring has been previously reported using conventional measures (relative risks or odds ratios). We aimed at refining existing evidence by calculating marginal effect exposure estimating unmeasured residual confounding. Methods In ‘SEguimiento del Niño para un Desarrollo Óptimo’ Project, a dynamic multipurpose paediatric cohort study, we collected information from parents through self‐administered online...

Design: We conducted cross-sectional study 4–5-year-old children participating SENDO project. Information was gathered through an online questionnaire completed by parents. Dietary information collected previously validated semi-quantitative FFQ. The estimated average requirements or adequate intake levels as proposed Institute...
