Drought is a widespread limiting factor in coffee plants. It affects plant development, fruit production, bean development and consequently beverage quality. Genetic diversity for drought tolerance exists within the genus. However, molecular mechanisms underlying adaptation of plants to are largely unknown. In this study, we compared responses two commercial cultivars (IAPAR59, drought-tolerant Rubi, drought-susceptible) Coffea arabica grown field under control (irrigation) conditions using...

There is an urgent need to understand the relationship between SARS-CoV-2 infection and anosmia, one of most notable sequelae, especially in early variants during 2020 pandemic, as there are cases where such a sequel resulted partial delayed recovery. Due scarcity studies consistently correlating olfactory loss with COVID-19 its incomplete and/or late recovery, it becomes imperative analyze available scientific material through systematic reviews, aiming for more robust contribution...

In higher plants, the inhibition of photosynthetic capacity under drought is attributable to stomatal and non-stomatal (i.e., photochemical biochemical) effects. particular, a disruption metabolism Rubisco regulation can be observed. Several studies reported reduced expression RBCS genes, which encode small subunit, water stress. Expression RBCS1 gene was analysed in allopolyploid context C. arabica, originates from natural cross between canephora eugenioides species. Our study revealed...

SUMMARY Controlled irrigation during the dry period associated with adequate nitrogen (N), phosphorous (P) and potassium (K) fertilization led to accumulation of biochemical compounds in coffee beans considered as positive precursors beverage quality. Adult plants ( Coffea arabica ‘Rubi’) were cultivated using different water regimes (WR) conditions under climate Brazilian Cerrado. Coffee-bean physical characteristics evaluated well composition by near-infrared analysis. The K treatment...

Homogeneous management zones (HMZs) delineation is important for the application of precision agriculture because farm decisions are based on it. Diverse soil chemical characteristics HMZs delineation. However, summarizing several variables into homogeneous zoning while taking account spatial distribution pattern a challenge. Addressing this challenge to produce oriented practical use farmers. In work, 17 were jointly analyzed HMZ by using indicator kriging (IK) interpolate fertility index...

Natural variation for photosynthetic traits was studied by determining chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in a collection of Arabidopsis accessions. This screen revealed only one single accession (Ely), exhibiting characteristics markedly different from all others, while few lines showed small but significant variation. Detailed genetic and physiological analyses reduced fitness Ely compared with the standard laboratory strain Ler various growth parameters. At low temperature (15 °C), had...

The effects of ultraviolet-B (UV-B) radiation on photosystem II (PS II) were studied in leaves Chenopodium album. After the treatment with UV-B damage was estimated using chlorophyll a fluorescence techniques. Measurements modulated pulse amplitude fluorometer revealed that efficiency decreased both increasing time and intensity UV-B. Fluorescence induction rise curves analyzed mechanistic model energy trapping. It appears by occurs first at acceptor side II, only later donor side.
