Transapical off-pump NeoChord repair is a novel minimally invasive surgical procedure to treat degenerative mitral valve regurgitation. The aim was evaluate 1-year clinical results of the in consecutive cohort patients.Between February 2013 and July 2016, 213 patients were enrolled Independent International Registry. All presented severe regurgitation due flail/prolapse 1 or both leaflets, they all completed postoperative echocardiographic assessment up year. We identified primary end point...

Background The current diagnostic delay of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) after embolism (PE) is unacceptably long, causing loss quality-adjusted life years and excess mortality. Validated screening strategies for early CTEPH diagnosis are lacking. Echocardiographic among all PE survivors associated with overdiagnosis cost-ineffectiveness. We aimed to validate a simple strategy excluding acute PE, limiting the number performed echocardiograms. Methods In this...

Abstract Introduction The role of mitral valve prolapse (MVP) as an arrhythmic substrate rather than isolated structural defect is under investigation. There a possible link between the MVP, its morphology, and MVP (aMVP). Purpose To obtain data on morphology clinical significance in Polish population. Methods 417 patients with (mean age 45.5 years-yrs.; females: 249/59.7%) were enrolled into prospective observational registry MITPROL AR-PL Cardiac Society. Data was obtained from 23 tertiary...

Introduction: Right ventricular dysfunction (RVD) is an indicator of poor prognosis in normotensive patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE).The aim this study was to compare right (RV)/left (LV) ratio measured by echocardiography and multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) tricuspid annulus plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) as a prognostic factor APE-related 30-day mortality.Material methods: We examined 76 confirmed APE, hemodynamically stable at admission. We evaluated the value RV/LV...

To externally validate the prognostic impact of copeptin, either alone or integrated in risk stratification models, pulmonary embolism (PE), we performed a post hoc analysis 843 normotensive PE patients prospectively included three European cohorts. Within first 30 days, 21 (2.5%, 95% CI 1.5–3.8) had an adverse outcome and 12 (1.4%, 0.7–2.5) died due to PE. Patients with copeptin ≥24 pmol·L −1 6.3-fold increased for (95% 2.6–15.5, p<0.001) 7.6-fold PE-related death 2.3–25.6, p=0.001)....

Background: Obesity contributes to left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction (LVDD) and may lead heart failure. Weight loss (WL) after bariatric surgery (BS) influence LV morphology function. Using echocardiography, this study assessed the effect of WL on function (LVDF) atrium (LA) 6 months BS in young women with morbid obesity. Methods: Echocardiography was performed 60 body mass index ≥ 40 kg/m², aged 37.1 ± 9.6 years prior BS. In 38 patients, well-controlled arterial hypertension...

Patients with intermediate-risk acute pulmonary embolism (APE) are a heterogeneous group an early mortality rate of 2-15%. The tricuspid annulus plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) and regurgitation peak gradient (TRPG) can be used for risk stratification, so we analyzed the prognostic value new echo parameter (TRPG/TAPSE) prediction APE-related 30-day death or need rescue thrombolysis in initially normotensive APE patients. Methods Results:The study consists 400 non-high-risk patients (191 men,...

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the usefulness a novel clinical score — InterTAK Diagnostic Score in differentiating Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) from acute coronary (ACS). Methods: Medical records 40 consecutive patients with ACS and 20 TTS were managed retrospectively analyzed at documented center. Each patient evaluated using Inter- TAK Score. To illustrate diagnostic ability score, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve performed. Results: Takotsube more often female...
