Oil contamination in coastal wetlands jeopardizes these ecosystems and worsens climate warming. Here we analyze 87 metagenomic samples from representative Chinese wetland oilfields find that genes associated with dissimilatory iron reduction respond to hydrocarbon levels. These were closely linked the breakdown of organic matter into carbon dioxide methane, highlighting potential for degrading stubborn hydrocarbons altering electron transfer pathways. Notably, Geobacter, a key genus...

Antibiotics and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) are two pollutants in soil, especially ARGs as one of the top three threats to human health. The performance soil microbial fuel cells (MFCs) fuelled with antibiotics was investigated. In this study, MFCs spiked tetracycline exhibited optimal bioelectricity generation, which 25% 733% higher than those sulfadiazine control, respectively. Compared non-electrode treatment, not only did functional micro-organisms change open- closed-circuit...

Electroactive microbes can conduct extracellular electron transfer and have the potential to be applied as a bioresource regulate soil geochemical properties microbial communities. In this study, we incubated Fe-limited Fe-enriched farmland together with electroactive for 30 days; both soils were common iron mineral, ferrihydrite. Our results indicated that exogenous decreased pH, total organic carbon (TOC), nitrogen (TN) but increased conductivity promoted Fe(III) reduction. The addition of...

Abstract The Wa'ergang section in South China has been proposed as a potential Global Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP) for the base of Stage 10, uppermost stage Cambrian System. In this study, high-resolution C-isotopic compositions are reported we identified three large negative δ 13 C excursions, namely N1, N2 N3, at Wa'ergang. N1 is located just above First Appearance Datum (FAD) Lotagnostus americanus , corresponding to possible Proconodontus posterocostatus conodont Zone. was within...
