Algorithms are involved in decisions ranging from trivial to significant, but people often express distrust toward them. Research suggests that educational efforts explain how algorithms work may help mitigate this distrust. In a study of 1,921 participants 20 countries, we examined differences algorithmic trust for low-stakes and high-stakes decisions. Our results suggest statistical literacy is negatively associated with situations, while it positively scenarios high algorithm familiarity....
There are few longitudinal studies with controversial results examining delayed changes in cognition after ischemic stroke and predictive values of neuropsychological neuroimaging markers. The objectives this study were to evaluate the poststroke patients their relationship markers measured during acute phase.Eighty-five first-ever inpatients (mean age 65.6±5.6 years) without previous cognitive complaints prospectively evaluated a comprehensive battery at 5th day 1st, 6th, 12th months. A wide...
We argue that depending on p-values to reject null hypotheses, including a recent call for changing the canonical alpha level statistical significance from .05 .005, is deleterious finding of new discoveries and progress science. Given blanket variable criterion levels both are problematic, it sensible dispense with testing altogether. There alternatives address study design determining sample sizes much more directly than does; but none tools should replace as magic method giving clear-cut...

One of the unresolved questions in multisensory research is that automaticity consistent associations between sensory features from different modalities (e.g. high visual locations associated with sound pitch). We addressed this issue by examining a possible role selective attention audiovisual correspondence effect. orthogonally manipulated loudness and pitch, directing participants' to auditory modality only using pitch identification tasks. Visual stimuli high, low or central spatial...
The study aimed to explore processing difference between a literal phrase and metaphoric one. Unlike artificially created stimuli in most experimental research, an artistic text with ambiguous binary was used. Eye tracking methodology applied. Results suggested the two types of phrases both early late measures.
