Background We sought to identify patient and surgical factors associated with time hospital discharge in patients undergoing complete repair for tetralogy of Fallot. Methods Results performed a prospective cohort study Fallot admitted between May 1, 2012 June 2, 2017 at Children's Hospital Philadelphia detailed demographic, clinical, operative characteristics. The primary outcome was discharge. Cox proportional hazards models were used predictors enrolled 151 subjects, 62.8% male, 65.6%...

Abstract Neurodevelopmental sequelae are prevalent among patients with congenital heart defects (CHD). In a study of infants and children repaired tetralogy Fallot (TOF), we sought to identify those at risk for abnormal neurodevelopment test associations between socioeconomic medical factors deficits. Single-center retrospective observational TOF that were evaluated the institution’s Cardiac Kids Developmental Follow-up Program (CKDP) 2012 2018. Main outcomes included neurodevelopmental...

Background Despite excellent operative survival, correction of tetralogy Fallot frequently is accompanied by residual lesions that may affect health beyond the incident hospitalization. Measuring resource utilization, specifically cost and length stay, provides an integrated measure morbidity not appreciable in traditional outcomes. Methods Results We conducted a retrospective cohort study, using de‐identified commercial insurance claims data, 269 children who underwent from January 2004 to...

Substance use is a risk factor for COVID-19 infection and adverse outcomes. However, reasons elevated in substance users are not well understood. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether alcohol or other drug associated with adherence Centers Disease Control Prevention (CDC) guidelines mitigation. Preregistered analyses tested the hypothesis that greater drugs would be lower CDC guideline adherence. A secondary objective determine likelihood testing outcome. cross-sectional web-based...

Introduction: Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) repair is associated with excellent operative survival. However, a subset patients experiences post-operative complications, which can significantly alter the early and late course. We utilized machine learning approach to identify risk factors for complications after TOF repair. Methods: conducted single-center prospective cohort study children <2 years age undergoing surgical The outcome was occurrence cardiac measured between hospital...

Little is known regarding right ventricular (RV) remodeling immediately after Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) repair. We sought to describe myocardial deformation by cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) TOF repair and investigate associations between these parameters early post-operative outcomes. Fifteen infants underwent CMR without sedation as part a prospective pilot study undergoing complete repair, prior hospital discharge. RV (strain) was measured using tissue tracking, in addition...

Objectives: In this paper, we explore the adherence patterns to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 mitigation guidelines among current, former, never smokers. Methods: We used an online cross-sectional survey of adults 18 years or older in 5 northeastern states (N=1084). Results: Unadjusted analyses revealed that current smokers reported lower CDC than former (27.5 vs 29.4, p<.05). After accounting sociodemographic covariates, finding was no longer statistically...

Abstract The oral microbiomes of 24 healthy adults (50% female; mean age = 24.3) were examined using 16 s ribosomal RNA sequencing and compared between light heavy drinkers. Beta diversity was related at the trend level to drinking group, drinkers had significantly higher abundances key taxa such as Lactobacillales. These preliminary results may offer insight into early effects on composition microbiome.

Introduction: Exercise capacity is diminished in Fontan patients. There limited understanding of their contractile reserve, or ventricular response to exercise. We sought evaluate reserve patients and its association with exercise performance using stress echocardiography. Methods: Single center prospective study (n=56) healthy controls (n=11) presenting for cardiopulmonary test rest/peak research echocardiograms. Contractile was defined as the change systemic ventricle’s global longitudinal...
