E-cigarette use is an emerging phenomenon with increasing recognition and acceptance globally. This study aims to create a profile of e-cigarette users among university students in Malaysia.
Abstract EBUS-guided transbronchial mediastinal cryobiopsy (TBMC) has emerged as a promising biopsy tool for diagnosing hilar and pathologies. However, several fundamental technical aspects of TBMC remain unexplored. This study aims to determine the optimal number cryo-passes freezing time ultrathin cryoprobe in EBUS-TBMC concerning specimen size procedural diagnostic yield. We conducted retrospective chart review patients with lesions who underwent between January 2021 April 2023 across...
Patients with central airway obstruction (CAO) from advanced lung cancer present significant morbidity and are assumed to have lower survival. Hence, they offered only palliative support. We asked if patients who CAO (recanalised treated) will behave similarly those without CAO. This study was a retrospective review of the medical records managed for during 2010 2015 at our institution. 85 were studied. Median survival 1-, 2- 5-year 5.8 months, 30.3%, 11.7% 2.3% versus 9.3 35.7%, 9.6% 4.7%,...
The use of Cannabis sativa , also known as marijuana, is believed to have dated back thousands years B.C. More than 200 decades later, it remains a popular recreational psychoactive substance that can be smoked through water pipe. We report case marijuana smoking via “bong” device, which has resulted in severe Pseudomonas aeruginosa necrotizing pneumonia treated with conservative medical therapy. This highlights the importance recognizing life‐threatening potentially linked and usage....
Liquid silicone (polydimethylsiloxane) is an inert material that commonly used for cosmetic purpose. Silicone embolization syndrome (SES) can rapidly progress to pneumonitis as a consequence of the injection nonmedical‐grade liquid silicone. We describe case severe complicated with acute respiratory distress and bilateral pneumothorax secondary gluteal augmentation. In this report, we aim discuss our experience approach in managing uncommon SES.
As the world witnessed rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2, World Health Organization has called for governing bodies worldwide to intensify case findings, contact tracing, monitoring, and quarantine or isolation contacts with COVID-19. Drive-through (DT) screening is a form detection which recently gain preference globally. Proper implementation this system can help remediate outbreak.
Pulmonary epithelioid hemangioendothelioma is an uncommon lung malignancy of endothelial origin. Besides demonstrating unpredictable presentation features and prognosis, the paucity established treatment guidelines remains a challenge in managing these patients. We present two The first patient presented with chronic productive cough over 1-year duration. He was initially diagnosed showed partial response to for cardiac failure. A persistent right upper zone consolidation on chest radiograph...
Objective: Epidemiological studies have reported the close relationship between risk for lung cancers and air pollution in particular, non-smoking related cancers. However, most used residential address as proxies which may not estimate accurately an individual’s exposure. Therefore, aim of this study was to identify factors such occupation mode transportation associated with cancer diagnosis death. Methods: Subjects (n=514) were evaluated both by chart reviews clinical data interviews...
Dental laboratory technicians are at risk of developing occupational respiratory diseases due to exposure various potentially toxic substances in their working environment. Since 1939, few cases silicosis among dental technician have been reported. We illustrate a 38 year-old female, who worked for 20 years, initially treated as pulmonary tuberculosis and chronic necrotising aspergillosis without much improvement. Computed tomography guided lung biopsy bronchoscopic transbronchial were...
Abstract Indwelling pleural catheter (IPC) is a useful tool for refractory malignant effusions (MPEs). It allows palliation by intermittent symptomatic relief of the effusion and improves quality life. Its use in benign comes mainly from retrospective studies, case series, reports. Lupus common, causes minimal symptoms, usually responds to either steroid therapy or immunosuppressants. Refractory lupus less common treatment may require invasive surgical pleurectomy. We describe 52‐year‐old...
Chylothorax is an uncommon cause of pleural effusion. Recurrent chylous effusions are often resistant to conservative treatment and many need surgical intervention. We report a 69-year-old woman with refractory idiopathic chylothorax medium-chain triglyceride diet intermittent thoracentesis. Lymphangiography lymphoscintigraphy failed identify the site leakage. initiated continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) 12 h before 48 hours after talc pleurodesis. Chest drain was removed at day 3...
Isolated mediastinal lymphadenopathy represents a common diagnostic dilemma whereby morphological analysis of tissue specimens are frequently needed to ascertain the diagnosis. Cryobiopsy by linear endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) guidance had recently been described in literature. We multimodality biopsy approach case isolated tuberculous lymphadenitis which we employed 22-gauge transbronchial aspiration needle, mini-forceps and flexible cryoprobe sequentially. aim highlight novel technique...
We discussed a 54 years old Malay gentleman who presented to the emergency department with severe difficulty in breathing and wheezing. The patient almost collapsed an intubation was done followed by CT scan of neck thorax later. showed ill-defined heterogenously enhancing intramural lesion measuring 2.7 x 2.4 3.3 cm arising from posterior tracheal wall projecting into lumen. A rigid bronchoscopy polypoidal tumour mass at lower one third trachea occluding Partial resection stenting were...
