The choroid plexus (ChP) produces and is bathed in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), which aging Alzheimer's disease (AD) shows extensive proteomic alterations including evidence of inflammation. Considering inflammation hampers functions involved tissues, CSF abnormalities reported these conditions are suggestive ChP injury. Indeed, several studies document damage AD, nevertheless remains to be systematically characterized. We here report that changes elicited by AD consistent with a perturbed...
ABSTRACT The risk of recurrence new amnesia events in patients having previously experienced transient global (TGA) ranges between 2.9-23.8%. Objective: Our objective was to search for predictors TGA patients. Methods: Retrospective analysis identify a cohort 203 from single center Buenos Aires, Argentina, diagnosed January 2011 and March 2017 Clinical features complementary studies (laboratory results, jugular vein Doppler ultrasound brain MRI) were analyzed. Comparison with recurrent...
To investigate the diagnostic performance of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) system for detection COVID-19 in chest radiographs (CXR), and compare results to those physicians working alone, or with AI support.
Background In MS patients, hypertension is associated with a delayed diagnosis and an increased risk of progression. Understanding the mechanisms this association could potentially lead to improved prevention disease We aimed establish whether high blood pressure contributes white-matter injury brain atrophy in MS. Methods Cross-sectional study 95 patients RRMS. Estimates fractional anisotropy, grey-matter volume lesion load were obtained from 3T MRI. used anisotropy voxel-based statistics...
Introducción: La aplicación de la inteligencia artificial (IA) en radiología se encuentra fases iniciales y estaría influenciada por percepción sus usuarios.Objetivo: Valorar el grado conocimiento, interés expectativas acerca
Background Several MRI findings of optic neuritis (ON) have been described and correlated with specific underlying etiologies. Specifically, nerve enhancement is considered an accurate biomarker acute ON. Objective To identify differences in patterns certain demyelinating etiologies presenting Methods Retrospective analysis on fat-suppressed T1-weighted images from patients clinical radiological ON, treated at our institution between January 2014 June 2022. Location extension enhancing...
An 80-year-old woman presented to the emergency department with vertigo, right hand incoordination, and postural instability five months after rituximab treatment for chronic lymphocytic leukemia.Physical examination revealed dysarthria, horizontal nystagmus, gait ataxia, upper lower limb dysmetria.Brain magnetic resonance imaging showed a T 2 hyperintense (Figure, A) 1 hypointense B) lesion in cerebellar white matter that demarcates dentate nucleus C), pontine middle peduncle extension.This...
Two patients with mild cognitive impairment underwent 11C-PiB and 18F-FDG brain PET. Both had previously gone through a contrast-enhanced MRI scan that revealed extra-axial tumors next to the sphenoid wing, suggestive of meningiomas. PET images showed highly increased uptake by masses. These 2 cases represent 1.2% our population (n = 163). No meningioma was found negative uptake. The concentration not within lesions. could be used as marker.
Disorders affecting the lumbosacral plexus (LSP) can alter root diameter. Our aim was to determine normal LSP nerve dimensions using magnetic resonance neurography (MRN). Eleven asymptomatic patients (ages: 18–53, mean: 34 years) underwent MRN of on a 3 T scanner with an 8‐channel torso‐PA coil. IDEAL T2‐weighted images were acquired and measured from second lumbar (L2) first sacral (S1) vertebrae coronal plane, 5 mm dorsal ganglion (DRG). Root size recorded by three separate groups...
The 1° Encontro Latino-Americano de IA em Saúde (1st Latin American Meeting on AI in Health) was held during the 2022 Jornada Paulista Radiologia, annual radiology meeting state of São Paulo. event created to foster discussion among countries about complexity, challenges, and opportunities developing using artificial intelligence (AI) those countries. Technological improvements have high expectations health care. is recognized increasingly as a game changer clinical radiology. To counter...
Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a rare, temporary, sudden-onset disturbance in anterograde episodic memory with unclear pathophysiology. Previous brain volumetric analysis TGA patients showed varied results.
