Abstract The linear response of a photomultiplier tube (PMT) is required property for photon counting and reconstruction the neutrino energy. linearity valid region saturation PMT were investigated using linear-alkylbenzene (LAB)-based liquid scintillator. A correlation was observed between two different responses, with pulse-shape distortion pulse-area decrease. pulse shape provides useful information estimation relative to area. This correlation-based diagnosis allows an in situ range,...

A 5 kton of ultra-low-radioactivity liquid scintillator detector, located at roughly 50 km away from the Yonggwang(now Hanbit) nuclear power plant, is proposed to determine neutrino mass hierarchy where oscillation due θ 12 takes place maximum with baseline. The detector expected detect neutrinos reactors, Sun, Supernova, Earth, any possible stellar object and J-PARC beam.It could be regarded as a multi-purpose long-term operational detector. The main goal measure most accurate value squared...

This paper describes the design and construction of stainless steel tank JSNS2 detector. The leakage was examined using water gas after construction. new sealing technique with liquid gasket developed, its capability evaluated quantitatively. result shows over 5 times better performance than tolerance level leakage. acceleration measurement during transportation adequate robustness. These tests prove that is feasible to be used in experiment.

The JSNS2 (J-PARC Sterile Neutrino Search at J-PARC Spallation Neutron Source) experiment aims to search for neutrino oscillations over a 24 m short baseline . inner detector is filled with 17 tons of gadolinium-loaded liquid scintillator (LS) and both the intermediate γ-catcher optically separated outer veto are un-loaded LS Optical photons from scintillation observed by 120 Photomultiplier Tubes (PMTs). A total 130 PMTs were either donated other experiments or purchased Hamamatsu. Donated...

The main physics goal of the JSNS$^{2}$ (J-PARC Sterile Neutrino Search at J-PARC Spallation Neutron Source) experiment is to search sterile neutrino in $\Delta$m$^{2}$ $\sim$1 eV$^{2}$ region with 24m baseline. signal expected be detected by appearance electron antineutrinos from muon that are produced decay rest through inverse beta decay. We will put 17 tons Gd loaded liquid scintillator detector as a target, and we expect get world competitive result after 3 years data taking. aims start...
