Emergent behavior that arises from a mass effect is one of the most striking aspects collective animal groups. Investigating such would be important in order to understand how individuals interact with their neighbors. Although there are many experiments have used animals investigate social learning or conflict between and society as fish school, reports on effects rare. In this study, we show swarm soldier crabs could spontaneously enter water pool, which usually avoided, by forming densely...

In recent years, various animal observation instruments have been developed to support long-term measurement and analysis of behaviors. This study proposes an automatic instrument that specializes for turning behaviors pill bugs aims obtain new knowledge in the field ethology. Pill strongly tend turn opposite direction a preceding turn. alternation is called reaction. However, repetition turns same reaction has considered malfunction alternation. this research, authors turntable-type...

OBJECTIVE: Adrenomedullin (AM) has diverse functions and is expressed in a variety of tissues. This study was conducted to investigate the expression AM human ovary its effect on progesterone production by granulosa lutein cells. DESIGN AND METHODS: Follicular fluid blood samples were obtained at time oocyte retrieval from patients undergoing vitro-fertilization cycles. Concentrations follicular plasma measured RIA. Granulosa cells isolated mRNA examined RT-PCR. cultured vitro secretion...

Betacellulin (BTC), purified and cloned from mouse beta cell tumor (BTC-JC10), is regarded as a new member of the epidermal growth factor family. The present study was conducted to clarify expression BTC its receptors, ErbB-1 ErbB-4, in trophoblasts human placenta over course pregnancy.Human placental tissues were obtained 4 pregnant women at 4th 5th week pregnancy (very early placentas), 10 6th 12th (early 5 18th 21st (mid placentas) 8 38th 40th (term placentas). mRNA expressions BTC,...

The L\'evy walk, a type of random walk characterized by linear step lengths that follow power-law distribution, is observed in the migratory behaviors various organisms, ranging from bacteria to humans. Notably, walks with power exponents close two are frequently observed, though their underlying causes remain elusive. This study introduces simplified, abstract model designed produce inverse square walks, also known as Cauchy and explores conditions facilitate these phenomena. In our model,...

Mictyris guinotae is endemic to the Ryukyu Islands, Japan. During low tide, crabs emerge onto tidal flat feed, and then burrow into sand before incoming tide. They feed in droves during daytime, but separately at night. Under constant conditions without sediment, exhibited a bimodal daily activity pattern, with free-running period of ~12.8 h, comprising an active phase ~11 h alternating resting ~1 lag ~3 between peak Crabs were more notional night-time than daytime. In placed arena comprised...

The frequency of occurrence step length in the migratory behaviour various organisms, including humans, is characterized by power law distribution. This pattern known as Lévy walk, and reason for this phenomenon has been investigated extensively. Especially one possibility might be that reflects change self-confidence one’s chosen behaviour. We used simulations to demonstrate active assumptions cause changes confidence level choice under a situation lack information. More specifically, we...
