Biological processes have high removal efficiencies and low operational costs, but the secondary effluent of coking wastewater (CWW), even at a concentration, is difficult for microorganisms to degrade directly. In this study, glucose was used as carbon source co-metabolic substrate microbial acclimation in order enhance advanced treatment (CWW). The performance pollutants, especially recalcitrant compounds, studied changes community structure after activated sludge were analyzed. effect...

The contamination of surface water by nitrogen due to fertilizer application and discharge wastewater is an increasingly serious problem. A multifunctional device, which combines water-lifting aeration (WLA) with oligotrophic biological contact oxidation (OBCO), was developed for pretreatment raw reduce nitrogen. performance removal changes in microbial community structure were investigated. results showed that the combined technique WLA-OBCO feasible, ammonium, nitrate, total organic carbon...

Shortcut nitrification can be successfully achieved by dosing methanoic acid in the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system. While processing stable shortcut nitrification, influent pH value was kept at 7.5–8.5. However, dissolved oxygen and temperature were not controlled SBR. When NH4+−N 50 mg/L, removal efficiency reached 98.77% 98.92% when we dosed 0.25 0.35 mL/L acid. Moreover, reactor, NO2−−N 77.88% 79.63% of NO2−−N/(NO2−−N + NO3−−N) effluent, respectively. We also discovered that acid,...

Biological material was prepared by adhering different amount of bamboo charcoal filler into the matrix polyvinyl formal foam manual controlled foaming process. The bears properties low density, high strength, and good adsorption ability from advantage formal. It can be used as new efficient biological supporting in sewage disposal system. effects hydrochloric acid, formaldehyde, charcoal, temperature on preparation were investigated.

SummaryAn earlier study had shown that exposure to nitrogen dioxide (NO2) at 1.0 µl l–1 caused a decrease in plant biomass and an accumulation of nitrate Brassica campestris seedlings. The present was aimed evaluating whether pre-treatment with salicylic acid (SA) could promote tolerance NO2 prevent NO2-induced leaves, thus improving the quality pak choi (B. L. spp. chinensis). Thirty-day-old B. plants grown 3:1 (v/v) soil:sand mix were sprayed SA solutions 0, 0.5, 1.0, or 1.5 mM and, after...

The objective of this study was to characterize nitrogen removal through nitrite when treating oil shale retorting wastewater by dosing methanoic acid and hydrazine as inhibitors in moving bed biofilm reactors. Molecular operating environment (MOE) simulation showed the presence acid, ammonia oxidizing bacteria (AOB), denitrifying would gradually increase become dominant bacteria. However, effect on shortcut nitrification might only be that toxicity had a strong inhibitory A series...
